Authorization <strong>for</strong> Destruction of Verbatim Recordings of Closed Session Meetings<br />
Section 2.06(c) of the Open Meetings Act, as amended 5 ILCS 120/2.06(c), the verbatim record<br />
of a closed meeting may be destroyed no less than 18 months after the completion of the meeting<br />
recorded, but only after: (1) the public body approves the destruction of a particular recording;<br />
and (2) the public body approved the minutes of the closed meetings that meet the written<br />
requirements.<br />
In accordance with these provisions, the following audio recordings of closed meetings, January<br />
17, 2012, February 21, 2012, March 30, 2012, April 17, 2012, and <strong>May</strong> 22, 2012 meet the<br />
following criteria:<br />
1. At least 18 months have passed since the date of the meetings involved;<br />
2. The <strong>Board</strong> of Trustees has approved written minutes of the closed meetings; and<br />
3. There is no lawsuit pending regarding the legality of the closed sessions involved.<br />

That the <strong>Board</strong> adopt the following resolution:<br />
“Be it resolved that the <strong>Board</strong> of Trustees of Community College District 535, authorize the<br />
destruction of the verbatim audiotapes of its closed meetings held on January 17, 2012, February<br />
21, 2012, March 30, 2012, April 17, 2012, and <strong>May</strong> 22, 2012.”
