When Ross Cook was looking for the perfect venue for his fairytale wedding, he admitted he fell in love with Ravenwood Hall on first sight. Little did he know that he would be returning to the beautiful and historic setting just a few months later as an integral member of staff. Fast forward to the present day and Ross is happily married to Laura after their wonderful wedding–while having double reason to celebrate after being named the new head chef at the prestigious hotel and restaurant. Ross impressed all at the hotel and restaurant during a two-year spell at Ravenwood as Sous Chef. So when the position of running the entire kitchen came up, Craig Jarvis, owner of Ravenwood, admitted it was an easy decision to make. It was particularly special for Ross, 27, who had got married at the seven-acre estate – booking his wedding venue even before joining the team. Ross, who boasts a number of top hotels and restaurants in Ipswich and Needham Market on his impressive CV, said: “I originally came to Ravenwood as I knew all about its reputation in the local area. “I had always dreamed that one day I would be the Head Chef at Ravenwood and I jumped at the chance when it was offered to me. “It has a very high standard of cuisine and I am looking forward to continuing that and then enhancing it to ensure Ravenwood continues to have a reputation as the place-to-go in the local area.” Ross knew all about the beautiful setting at Ravenwood after he and his now wife, Laura, chose to get married there–with the ceremony held in May of this year. He explained: “When we first looked at Ravenwood Hall in 2015, we just fell in love with this stunning place with its amazing grounds, wedding pavilion and a hotel steeped in tradition. To now be the Head Chef here is a dream come true.” Ross is now busy preparing Ravenwood’s new autumn menu before embarking on his first Christmas leading the kitchen.
