Summer fun by the River Waveney...<br />
With the end of the summer<br />
season on 10 <strong>September</strong> in<br />
sight, <strong>2018</strong> looks like being a<br />
record season at Beccles Lido.<br />
With glorious weather at the<br />
beginning of the summer holidays,<br />
what seemed like all of East Anglia<br />
descended on Beccles to swim in one<br />
of the region’s only heated openair<br />
swimming pools. With its slide,<br />
springboard, giant inflatable, lane<br />
swimming til 10am and café serving<br />
hot and cold food, Beccles Lido is<br />
the perfect destination for an early<br />
morning swim or a family day out.<br />

Following a huge fundraising<br />
campaign in 2017, the Lido was<br />
transformed for <strong>2018</strong> with new toilets<br />
and a re-landscaped patio area. The toddler pools were also<br />
completely revamped and for 2019 the main pool has to be<br />
re-furbished, upgraded and re-lined. This final upgrade in an<br />
ambitious 2 year project to Secure Beccles Lido’s Future is<br />
the most expensive project since Beccles Lido Limited took<br />
over the pool in 2009. The community is being urged to get<br />
involved and help raise funds to persuade larger grant funders<br />
to invest the £150,000+ required. Nearly half the community<br />
fundraising target of £15,000 has already been raised and<br />

When the Lido closes it’s not the end of the fun as the Lido<br />
also operates Big Dog Ferry until October. So why not book a<br />
passenger boat trip between Beccles Lido and Geldeston Locks<br />
Inn, a relaxing 3 mile boat journey along the River Waveney<br />
with the opportunity to enjoy the wildlife en-route – otters,<br />
