TOWN HALL UPDATES
Starting early last year, the NNW Board of Directors decided to host Town
Hall meetings in order to improve communication between NNW, our
members and the public at large. Each meeting has been well attended
and constructive comments were shared. The Board, staff, volunteers and
community members are all working hard toward addressing many of the
topics that have been brought up:
NNW Newsletter The Board and Staff are still working on the right balance of event
information, history and member news for this newsletter.
Programs A new board committee has been established to specifically address the
scheduling, execution and evaluation of programs both at Nordia house and offsite.
Signage In addition to the donor wall already installed last summer, the individual
interior recognition signs have been ordered from Ambrosini Design, and the
NNW staff is in the process of confirming and ordering the individual exterior
recognition signs. Once completed, we will have over 75 plaques honoring those
generous and visionary donors who made Nordia House possible. Members of our
Facilities Committee are also working through the process to obtain approval from
Washington County for a monument sign facing Oleson Road. •
FRIDAY NIGHT LECTURE SERIES NEWS
A long running committee has been responsible to produce the Friday
Night Lecture Series at Portland State University. The committee, after 25+
years, has decided to step away from the project. The Board of Directors
authorized a new committee—with support from the retiring members—
and they are developing a new schedule of lectures. You can learn more
on our website about upcoming talks. For those of you who are new, this
lecture series is consistently interesting and well attended. Try it out if you
haven’t attended in the past. For those of you who have been regular
attendees, the committee will continue to provide excellent speakers
and lectures. NNW offers a heartfelt thanks to Aase Besson, Pirjo and Dirk
Schulbach and Marian and Carl Thompson for their devotion to this very
special community offering! We are sure you will continue to see them at
the lectures. •
