Juston Cardwell @cardwellphotography Being one of my favorite photographers, it’s a pleasure to feature you and your work in this issue of The WAVE INK. With that being said, would you please introduce yourself to our readers and let them know where you’re from? My Name is Juston Cardwell, I am located just outside of Portland, Oregon How long have you been a photographer? I have been a photographer for about 30 years. This is your third cover for The WAVE INK, and this time around you also have 2 other models featured in the same issue. What is the secret to capturing such great images? The biggest thing I love to do is always have fun, don’t treat like a big production. Find what defines your model and work with it, sometimes that means thinking outside of the box. Have beautiful women always been the subjects of your shoots? No, I shot with everything from newborn babies pooping on you during a shoot…. To jet engine, flame throwing funny cars hitting 200 mph What do you look for when choosing a model to shot? Just someone who is really wanting to be there, if its not fun…. I don’t want to be there either :) You recently mentioned that you shot 30 models in a weekend, what was that experience like and how did you pull it off? It was a big event, had so much fun. At time points you would be shooting with someone and want to keep going but then look around and realize time is not standing still and have to move on. I prefer to spend more time with a person and find what makes them stand out. Do you prefer to shoot in a studio or on location? Being that I am from Oregon weather is not on my side, I have a small studio so I can shoot at all times. Being a single parent home studio works best for now. Few more years and can leave the nest and shoot so much more on location. If you had to pick just one, what would you say has been your favorite shoot to date? My favorite has been when I got to meet one of my Favorite all time superstar ink model …. Heather Moss, I was so nervous shooting with her. We did good … images were very cool and I like to think we have become friends since then. If you could pick any place in the world to shoot, where would be your dream location to have a photoshoot? I would want some location with the whites sands and the bluest clear waters, bamboo hut and the ability to just melt and with the view What is the most important thing that photographers just starting out need to know? Enjoy what you do, don’t look for short cuts, don’t copy others work… find what makes you stand out from the rest. There are so many people out there who say they are a photographers…. Just be you and don’t hold back. Where can we see where can we see more of your work? I am in the middle of changing up my webpage so for now, My Instagram page is the best…. @cardwellphotography VIEW THE WORK OF JUSTON CARDWELL ON THE NEXT 8 PAGES.
