You have released a project, ”Don’t Cry for Me”, not long ago, how is that doing and what has been the response to it? To be honest way better then I expected a dark horror core EP about my messed up life would. I guess after ten years of being the party guy people that heard it we're like “Jesus this dude is not what I thought he was and this isn't electronic music it's hip hop wtf ”. So they are wanting more of it suprisingly. Like MC Tali who is a great friend and international musician came up to me when we were afterpartying at the end of summer in this mansion and she hit me with, “you never play the victim. You act like you never had any of this shit go down and I never knew half of this shit Woody, and I've known you for years. Do I even know you or do you even let anybody know you, really?”. She's an angel in the industry tbh, and it made me realise I owe it to people to show more of that side of my life. Like if not in person I'll make a song about it now, like how am I going to inspire a suicidal kid that wants to rap in a small town, in small country in the middle of fucking nowhere. If he or she doesn't know that I was just like them, ya know? I'm no saint, yo. No Fucking way. But I'm trying. What is your favorite song on it? I don't have one, “Don't Cry For Me”, was the truth about everything I hated in myself or about my childhood. So there's no favorite as it's all about my fucking pain, my fathers death, my Bros getting taken away, violence, addiction, sex, drugs, being played by the wrong bitches, and my attempted suicide. And I'm still working on the part two and it doesn't seem to get much lighter I'm afraid. But, if you are making me pick one, it would be F.M.L, as it's me and Patrick from State Of Mind, we've been best friends for a long time, toured together as State Of Mind and Woody for over a decade. So for us to finally make a hip hop tune and for it to be cool and co-signed by The WuTang was pretty special I guess. Like I'm getting a gold record sent to my house because of that tune hitting like 1.5 million downloads on DKings. And they sent me some new Grillz. OK, my friend, tell us about Wu-Tang, the affiliation you have with them and the project you worked on. Basically I sent a dark tune into a competition, they co signed it and we've become friends, I guess. I don't make music like the Wu, and my direction is not really Wu apart from how hard the shit is and that it's from the street. I want to do this shit independently because that's what I'm about, I'd rather die an artist on my terms. BUT, GZA is one of my favorite writers, and I was raised on that shit, so to be able to send my little rap songs to those big time guys to give me feedback is actually really cool. What direction do you see M.C. Woody going in the next 2-5 years? My music is my biography so hopefully not in the ground. But wherever my life goes I'll be sure to write about it as dark and honestly as I can. But, Part 2 of my hip hop story should be done next year, and I'll be touring Land of The Blind part 2 and 3 when the are realeased on Blackout with my Bros. What is the next thing on the table for M.C. Woody? Part two of my hip hop to close out that chapter of my life, I'm happy now, I'm not hurting people, I’m in love and I have my family close. So it’s time to finish off this horror and start something else, probably a UK, USA, NZ thing so I can steal some of those UK rappers. If you could work with any artist in their prime, just 1, dead or alive who would that be? O.D.B Where can we see and hear more of M.C. Woody? On tour with State Of Mind Drum n Bass On Spotify Or on tour when I finally finished this crazy dark horror. @thewaveX | 17 16 | @wavemag @thewaveX | 17
