Understanding the current violence in western suburbs requires the articulation
of several approaches in a global context. Our approach is in the
field of intercultural clinical psychology. It incorporates historic and geopolitical
dimensions understanding of this complex phenomenon.
This communication is based on research conducted on the course of victim
/ offender adolescents through various circles of life (family, schools,
institutions of protection, prison, suburbs, etc.) in France. Some results
of this research show the influence of the colonial divide and political violence
in the development of victimization and delinquency behaviours in
adolescence.
Consequently, accompanying these adolescents requires from the professional
taking into account not only of family, social and cultural factors but
also the global dimension.
