WHAT IS A
If you want all-day color with no upkeep, consider lip stains. These liquid-based
products are painted onto the lips. Once they dry, they last 8 to 12 hours. The matte
stain is so enduring, in fact, you'll need to remove it with makeup remover at the
end of your day.
"You have to be careful and get a perfect application," says David Maderich, a New
York-based celebrity makeup artist. "Once it's dried, it's not coming off."
Lip tints are actually lip stains that come in matte or glossy finishes. The liquid
product stains your lips for long-lasting color while remaining light and comfortable
on your lips. They are extremely popular in Korea and worldwide because they are
versatile and easy to apply.

BUTYLENE GLYCOL
When placed on the skin or
ingested, butylene glycol is
absorbed and broken down
into “gamma-hydroxybutryic
acid,” a naturally occurring
compound found in
humans. The Cosmetic
Ingredient Review (CIR), the
FDA, and the World Health
Organization have all found
butylene glycol to be safe.
GLYCERIN
Glycerol seems to be safe for
most adults. When taken by
mouth, glycerol can cause
side effects including
headaches, dizziness,
bloating, nausea, vomiting,
thirst, and diarrhea. Glycerol
may not be safe when
injected intravenously (by
IV). Red blood cells might
get seriously damaged.

AMMONIUM
ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL-
TAURATE/ VIPICOPOLYMER
According to the Cosmetics
Database, this ingredient is used
to increase the viscosity of a
product due to its high
molecular weight. It is
manufactured by the company
Clariant and gives products ‘a
super-smooth, velvety skin feel.’
It works over a wide pH range,
and is useful in the general
stabilisation of water/oil based
formulations. It’s found in
moisturizers, sunscreen and
anti-aging skin care.
DIPROPYLEBE
GLYCOL
Dipropylene glycol is more
active physiologically than
propylene glycol, it still has
very low toxicity. Industrial
handling and use of
dipropylene glycol should
present no significant
problems from ingestion,
skin contact, or vapor
inhalation.

ALOE VERA
LEAF JUICE
Aloe gel is generally safe
and can be effective in
treating skin conditions such
as burns and psoriasis.
However, avoid using aloe
latex orally. Taking 1 gram a
day of aloe latex for several
days can cause kidney
damage and might be fatal.
DAMASK
ROSE FLOWER
Containing a complex array
of vitamins, minerals, and
antioxidants, rose essential
oil has excellent emollient
properties for moisturizing
dry skin; it also offers
antiseptic and astringent
properties to treat acneic
skin, as well as anti-
inflammatory properties that
help treat redness and
inflammation.

Examine the differences
of the packaging, like the
weight and some other
small details.
The Brush
Check the quality of the
brush.
The Brand
Some counterfeit lip tints
change the brand name
slightly to avoid copyright.
The Color
The color of the product
should match the color
that is indicated in its
packaging.

permanent tinted lips or
darkened lips from using liptint.
It can also be the cause
of cracked lips from having
dry lips and dead skin on the
lips due to lip tints.
It's best to apply a
moisturizing balm first since
stains can also draw
attention to chapped lips or
wrinkles around the mouth.

HOW TO APPLY
Get the best out of your lip tint.
LIPTINT
STEP 1:
Take your lip tint and wipe
any excess pigment off the
wand.
STEP 2:
Apply a very light wash of
color all over your lips.
This will serve as the base
color for your gradient.
STEP 3:
Now, the fun part! To
create the gradient effect,
concentrate a thick layer
of color in the center of
your lips.
STEP 4:
Using your fingertip, blend
the color outwards. Use
quick, dotting motions.
