Autumn and Winter
Season 2018

WELCOME TO THE BRIDGE HOUSE THEATRE AND
WARWICK HALL AUTUMN AND WINTER 2018 SEASON.
THE FUNNY SEASON
Welcome once again to The Bridge House Theatre
and Warwick Hall season brochure. Thanks, as always,
for your continued support to the professional and
student artists whose work is presented to you here.
We are busier than ever (thanks for all the great
feedback) and as we continue to build our reputation,
we are tremendously grateful for your support.
We think we have assembled a wonderful season for
you again, and a particularly funny one at that! We get
going straight away with our pupil-led dark comedy:
Unman, Wittering and Zigo - the classic school drama
which tells of a spirited class who announce to their
new teacher that they murdered their previous one for
detaining them one day! I don’t know of a teacher who
hasn’t had that nightmare when about to start at a new
school!
welcome Betti (is that her stage name?) who
is the first robot actor, in residency at the
School and performing in a brand-new show
About A Bot. Having met her earlier this
year we are delighted that she has chosen
Warwick for her professional acting debut
and with a range of community events
around her visit she is sure to generate a
buzz! (groan)
We bring you the multi-award-winning, joyful comedy
exploring family nostalgia, Jurassic Parks, and are
delighted to be hosting a World Premier no less. We
The award-winning theatre continues
with Re:production, which offers a lighthearted
exploration of female choice
and legacy as Karen and Tom consider
whether they are ready to become
parents.

Improvisation is one of the comedy mainstays of drama in
schools, and we are delighted to have two brilliant professional
exponents of the art coming to the Bridge House Theatre. The
Noise Next Door- REMIX transforms audience suggestions
into hilarious scenes and songs and Showstopper! create an
entire musical with a live band, on the spot! Having seen both
these companies astonishing skills before it is not surprise to
me that the awards have been so plentiful for these shows.
Showstopper! has even had a lengthy run in the West End.
Neither should be missed, both shows will be unforgettable
AND unique.
Warwick Hall is rapidly becoming a sought-after venue for
music with a wonderful acoustic and atmosphere to match.
Warwick School Drama Workshop presents
UNMAN, WITTERING AND ZIGO
A new teacher, hoping to make a good impression in his first
job, finds that bullying and gambling among his pupils are the
least of his worries.
Caught in the middle of his new wife’s restlessness, his fellow teachers’ apathy and
the headmaster’s blatant cover-up, John Ebony becomes the unlikely detective.
Whilst this classic play written for Radio in 1958 was adapted for TV in 1965, it
continues to present uncomfortable questions about the necessity of authority
and the need to act morally.
Questions which are as vital today, as they have ever been.
This production has been co-directed by
students and staff, and developed from
RE: PRODUCTION
As seen at Fertility Fest in partnership
with the National & Bush Theatres.
Nominated for New Writing
South Best New Play Award.
Karen & Tom met & married
when they were really young.
They’re grown-ups now. It’s time
to join the club, isn’t it?
Their friends are painting the spare
room sunset yellow & waking up before
midday on Saturdays. It’s what everyone
wants, isn’t it?
Flexible working hours, sleepless nights,
baby yoga, PTA meetings, toddler football...
It’s what they want, isn’t it? Karen is a
scientist. She knows the facts. By now she
should be ready. But what if she’s not?
White Slate create theatre to spark
ABOUT A BOT
Sometimes it takes a little robot to solve a big problem…
Autonomous robots with artificial intelligence are part of our everyday lives.
One day a cute little robot working in a bank wondered, Why?
Then it decided to order pizzas for everyone!
It’s less than 48 hrs to the launch of “Virtual
Life’s” ground breaking video game,
“infinity3”. Chief Designer, Dr. Marcus
Allen, is working 24/7 to hit the
release deadline. He’s worked all his
life for this moment and now it all
could be taken away from him
because...
A cute little robot working in a
bank decided to order pizzas for
everyone!
Robots that order pizzas are
a problem, Marc’s problem.
Sadly, not his only one.
About a bot is a symphony for
the senses, suitable for the
whole family, and will be the
first professional theatrical
production to feature a
“live” autonomous robot
performing in the lead role.
The joint senior school production
A LAUGHING MATTER BY APRIL DE ANGELIS
It’s 1773 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
The crowd is getting restless. The leading
man’s unconscious but the show must go on.
Set in the theatres and coffee shops of eighteenth
century Georgian London, this rich comedy of
manners presents an irreverent version of real-life
events, by telling the story of David Garrick, Dr
Johnson, Oliver Goldsmith and a new play called
She Stoops to Conquer. At a time when Garrick
was transforming the acting profession and
caught between financial pressures and
artistic ambition, he must decide if he
can risk staging a play that could make
or break his career. With a cast of
senior students from both Warwick
School and King’s High School
this modern comedy set in the
eighteenth century evokes the
wit and farce of BBCs ‘Upstart
Crow’ and ‘Black Adder’, and
promises to be a fast-paced
and hugely enjoyable
production.
off-the-cuff comedy together since they
met at university.
Three, ITV1, BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 4, they were
nominated for a Chortle Award in 2014, and have
Fantastic For Families
We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and family friendly venue. We
have booster seats available in the auditorium and unisex baby changing
facilities in the Bridge House Theatre. In the foyer area we regularly have
children’s activities and resources themed to the performance that day.
Parking
Free parking is available on the school site. Enter the site from Myton Road and
follow the road past the theatre. Parking is located on the right hand side opposite
the theatre, signposted as ‘Visitors Car Park’. Additional parking can also be found
behind the theatre. Please note that this can become busy when we present multiple
events. Pay and display parking is located across the road in St Nicholas Park, a short
walk away. There is also a drop off point in front of the Bridge House Theatre.
Public Transport
Local buses from Warwick and Leamington Spa pass the site and stop on Myton Road,
adjacent to the theatre. The nearest train station is Warwick Station – a twenty minute walk
from the theatre. Leamington Spa train station is less than 2 miles away.
Access
It is our aim at the Bridge House Theatre and Warwick Hall to be accessible and welcoming to
everyone and we are committed to making your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible. Advance
booking is always recommended so that our staff can readily provide assistance when required.
Warwick Hall is easily accessible for wheelchair users and all events include seats at
Our Box Office staff will be happy to advise you of the best seats and a pre-show visit can
•
be arranged if required.
If you wish to take your guide dog or hearing dog into the performance, please let us know
•
when booking your ticket. We can arrange an adjacent seat to be kept free. We are also
happy to look after your guide dog during the performance if you prefer.
The Bridge House Theatre and Warwick Hall are fitted with infra-red hearing enhancement
