Manchmal gewinnt man, auch wenn man verliert: München
hat zwar den Zuschlag für die Olympischen und
Paralympischen Winterspiele 2018 nicht erhalten, geht
aber trotzdem als klarer Gewinner der Herzen aus der
Bewerbung. Die Stadt hat durch ihre 1A-Bewerbung die
Begeisterung eines ganzen Landes auf sich gezogen. Der
Imagegewinn ist enorm, München mit Garmisch-Partenkirchen
und der Kunsteisbahn Königsee war bis zur letzten
Minute des Entscheids im südafrikanischen Durban
ein klarer Mitfavorit. Dass das Olympische Komitee IOC
dem koreanischen Pyeongchang den Zuschlag gab, ist
zwar schmerzlich, hat Deutschland aber dennoch wieder
die Türen in eine olympische Zukunft geöffnet. Charmant,
weltoffen und sympathisch – von dieser Seite hat sich
die Delegation um Kuratoriumsvorsitzende Katarina Witt,
DOSB-Präsident Thomas Bach und München 2018-Chef
Bernhard Schwank während der leidenschaftlichen Bewerbungsphase
gezeigt. Gereicht hat esdiesmal nicht,
doch aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben. Auch die Bewerbergesellschaft
2018 sieht das so und nimmt das
Ergebnis gewohnt sportlich: „Herzlichen Glückwunsch
an Pyeongchang. Sie waren starke Konkurrenten und wir
sind sicher, dass sie exzellente Winterspiele 2018 ausrichten
werden. Unser Mitgefühl
gilt auch dem Team von Annecy.
Natürlich sind wir traurig, denn
wir sind schließlich angetreten,
um zu gewinnen. Es gehört im
Sport dazu, eine solche Entscheidung
zu respektieren.
Wir haben immer gesagt, dass
es ein enges Rennen ist, in dem wir zwei starke Konkurrenten
haben“. Trotzdem: München, wir sind stolz auf dich!
Sometimes you win even if you lose: Though Munich has
not received the bidding for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics
in 2018, the Bavarian capital is a clear winner of
the hearts from the application. The town has pulled the
enthusiasm of a whole country on itself by her 1A-application.
The image profit is huge, Munich with Garmisch-
Partenkirchen and the artificial-ice rink Königsee, was up
to the last minute of the decision in the South African Durban
a clear favorite. The fact that the Olympic committee
IOC gave to the surcharge to Korea is kind of painful, but
has opened Germany the doors to a olympic future. Charmingly,
cosmopolitan and sympathetically – that’s how the
delegation around Katarina Witt, Thomas Bach and Munich
2018 boss Bernhard Schwank presented Munich and
