PARENT’S HOUSE
Mom and Dad getting on your nerves?
We think it’s time you move on.

1 Research the
market & cost
of living in
desired area.
2 Start saving
money, you’re
going to need it.
3 Once researched
and ready, have
“the talk” with
your parents.
4 Ask parents if
they have any
furniture or
anything that
they don’t need.
5 Find a place,
apply for it,
read over all
documents
if accepted.
6 Pack up and
rent a moving
truck, if you
have too much.
7 Make sure gas,
water, and
electricity are
hooked up
before or on
moving day.
8 Change address
with bank,
insurance, and
other important
places. Rejoice!

own now!

HOW-TO
MAKE QUICK
BROWNIES
Did you forget all about that party
you had to bring snacks to?

SUGAR
FLOUR
4 eggs
2 cups sugar 1 cup flour
1 tsp.
vanilla
extract
1 cup butter
COCOA
1/2 cup
cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp.
baking
powder
Oven at 350°
Melt butter and mix all ingredients until smooth.
Bake at 350° for 20-30 minutes in a 9x13”
greased pan.
Enjoy all of the compliments of baking from
scratch. Go you!

HOW-TO
FIX A LEAKY
FAUCET
Isn’t that dripping sound annoying?
Fed up? Do something about it.

Put a rag over
drain to catch
loose parts.

Turn off water
valve under sink.
3
Remove each
handle by
unscrewing
top carefully.
4
Use adjustable
wrench to
remove nut,
revealing what’s
called the stem.
5
Pull out stem.
6
Remove the
screw that
secures
the washer.
7
Replace the
seat washer.
8
Reassemble
each handle,
turn water back
on, test, sigh
in relief.

HOW-TO
SEW A
BUTTON
No, your shirt isn’t ruined.
Yes, you can fix it.
Here’s how.

1
Acquire needle
and thread.
Thread needle
and knot.
2
Make a few
stitches below
where button
goes for security
of the button.
3
Sew through
one hole and
pull below.
Thread multiple
times until tight.
4
Repeat, passing
through all
button holes.
5
When secure,
take needle and
wrap around
threads below
button for a few
revolutions to
join all threads.
6
To finish off,
take thread to
backside and
sew a few more
stitches to
secure end.
Knot and cut.

INFORMAL

HOW-TO
PAINT A
WALL
You might think it’s easy,
but try not to make a mess.

1 Pick a color,
purchase
paint gallon
and primer.
2 Cover floors &
hardware. Use
painter’s tape
and apply to
cover trim and
ceiling line.
3 Paint a coat of
white primer.
Let dry.
4 With a paint
brush, apply
color to edges.
Let dry. Don’t
watch it dry, it
won’t if you
watch it.
5 Coat a roller
with paint and
apply in “W”
shape for even
distribution.
6 Apply second
coat if necessary.
Let dry.

HOW-TO
REMOVE
CLOTHING
STAINS
Pro-tip: white vinegar and
salt basically can remove anything.

Blood
Soak in cold water
mixed with 2 tbsp.
salt or ammonia.
Grass
Pre-treat stain
with white vinegar
or dish soap.
Sweat
Create paste with
baking soda and
water, apply and
let sit for 1 hour.
Coffee
1 tsp white vinegar
mixed with 2 cups
of water.
Sauces
Apply white
vinegar and wash
as soon as possible.
Ink
Dab small amount
of toothpaste & rub
gently. Wash off
with soap.
Chocolate
Remove remaining.
Rinse from reverse
side with cold water.
Gently rub in liquid
detergent, wait 5 min.
Soak in cold water
for 15 min & wash.
Red Wine
Sprinkle a lot of
salt on area. Rinse
from reverse side
with boiling water.
Wash immediately.

DECORATE
LIKE AN ADULT
Let’s face it, posters are tacky.
Move on from the college section.

1 Ditch the
poster putty
and tape. If
you want wall
art, frame it.
2 Buy real
furniture. IKEA
will do, for now,
but don’t buy
everything.
Mix it up.

Get a bedset
that actually
matches. Yes,
that means
your sheets too.
Trust us, it’s a
beautiful feeling.

Found a tiny
place? Hanging
mirrors makes
your space feel
larger than it
actually is.

Buy plants to
bring some
liveliness into
your place.

Paint your walls
neutral so that
your furniture
shines, not your
walls. Think
creams and
browns colors.

Ponder getting
a bookshelf, just
don’t shelf your
old textbooks
that you didn’t
even open.

Accessorize
creatively!
Think vases,
throw pillows,
vintage clocks,
and candles.

HOW-TO
SET UP A
ROUTER
AND WIFI
Because there’s nothing worse
than not having the Internet.

Acquire router.
Connect router to your Internet modem with ethernet
cable in “Internet” spot on router.
Plug in 2nd ethernet cable to “ethernet” spot and
connect to computer to adjust Wifi settings.
Navigate to browser on computer.
Type in IP address located in your router manual. If
not found, search router model IP address.
Input default username and password. Follow
instructions to set up new username and password.
Close browser. Unplug ethernet cable connected to
computer, leaving the cable between router & modem.
Find Wifi in settings on computer. Connect!
