SUN CATCHERS WITH MAGGIE DANNATT<br />

At this time of year, you need to make the most of any sun<br />

you can find. In this two-hour workshop, Maggie will show you<br />

how to make a sun catcher to hang in your window using a<br />

simple printing technique, rubber bands, water colours and oil.<br />

Make it for yourself or gift it to someone that you think could<br />

use some extra sunshine in their life this winter. (Bring an art<br />

smock/old shirt for this workshop). Age: 6 to 10 years<br />

STRAW PEOPLE WITH JODIE GOLDRING<br />

Tuesday 10 July, 10am to 12pm OR 1 to 3pm<br />

Humans have been recreating images of themselves in straw,<br />

bulrushes and other natural fibres across many ancient<br />

cultures for thousands of years. As we start to look for<br />

alternatives to the throw-away, plastic world we have created,<br />

we can look back into history for inspiration. This ancient craft<br />

is fun, environmentally sustainable and only limited by your<br />

imagination. Age: 6 to 10 years<br />

FRENCH VELOCIPEDE WITH CARLA MAXWELL<br />

Wednesday 4 July, 10am to 12pm OR 1 to 3pm<br />

In the nineteenth-century Jean Louis Gourdoux the<br />

‘velocipede’ or tricycle and merged it with the rocking horse<br />

to create a three-wheeled bike, made in France by the Jugnet<br />

factory, which had the body of a horse, a steel plate for a face<br />

and a horsehair tale. Join Carla in the Education Studio to<br />

recreate your own version of this French antique favourite.<br />

THE CHARTREUSE WITH MARK MAXWELL<br />

Tour Into Light and soak in the themes of colour and light.<br />

Head back into the studio to create a cluster of miniature<br />

French-inspired buildings, using the bright light and colours<br />

explored in the exhibition as your inspiration. Age: 5 to 9 years<br />

MAKE YOUR OWN MINIATURE THEATRE w CARLA<br />

MAXWELL<br />

Friday 6 July, 10am to 3pm (BYO lunch, no nuts please)<br />

Toy theatres were hugely popular in the nineteenth century<br />

and were collected by adults and children alike. Successful<br />

productions from popular theatres would be reproduced in<br />

miniature to recreate the performances for family and friends<br />

at home. In this workshop, build and decorate your own<br />

miniature theatre. Age: 6 to 12 years<br />

PERFORMING INTO LIGHT WITH EMIL FREUND<br />

Friday 13 July, 10am to 3pm (BYO lunch, no nuts please)<br />

Enjoy a day of theatre-making, drawing inspiration from Into<br />

Light. Collaborate in groups to write, direct, and perform short<br />

pieces. Learn how to create a performance from your first<br />

idea through to realization, exploring narrative, character, and<br />

composition. Age: 10 and over<br />

local businesses, and Professional Development for teachers<br />

and professional artists, within the Ballarat and surrounding<br />

The owner of ClayMotion, Dawn Whitehand, has extensive<br />

experience in the arts, including writing about art and<br />

exhibiting both nationally and internationally.<br />

Dawn has been teaching art for over eighteen years in many<br />

different learning environments including schools, kinders,<br />

University and community centres.<br />

Dawn’s personal studio is located in Dunnstown, a semi rural<br />

environment 10km outside of Ballarat (on the Melbourne side)<br />

and is also available for birthday parties, teambuilding and<br />

reflection workshops if you would like to combine tranquil<br />

surroundings into your art experience.<br />

CASUAL STUDIO SPACE HIRE<br />

Casual Studio Space hire is available during shop opening hours<br />

and is a shared unsupervised/untutored space. It is ideal for people<br />

who have projects that they don’t have enough space to realise at<br />

home - anyone from the hobbyist through to a professional artist<br />

with a short term project. The room has ample bench space and<br />

loads of shelving for storing works in progress.<br />

Exhibition Space - calling for <strong>2018</strong> proposals. This new space<br />

in Mair Street, Ballarat features a hanging system and plinths for<br />

the display of both 2D and 3D artwork. Proposals are encouraged<br />

for all mediums and are being accepted from artists Australia wide.<br />
