Offshore - FDO
Focus on Danish Offshore is a new Region
of Southern Denmark project, started in
Offshore Center Danmark in August 2007.
The project has an objective to identify the
special Danish core competences within the
offshore industry, to continue development
of these competences and making the
industry more visible both nationally and
internationally.
The Danish offshore cluster is geographically
located around Esbjerg. The Danish offshore
industry is represented with over 350
small and medium-size companies in the
region. The cluster has a yearly turnover of
7 billion DKK and today employs more than
6,000 people. The cluster is well-organised,
but is currently facing some problems for
its further development: the lack of human
resources and need for upgrade of existing
competences.
The project is divided into different steps.
Rambøll Management and Oxford Research
are used as the external consultants in the
project to help with some particular tasks.
Rambøll Management is responsible for an
analysis of the offshore sector with a goal to
identify the core competences in the Danish
offshore sector. This is done using a questionnaire
for the relevant offshore companies
and the expert-interviews with selected
offshore professionals. Oxford Research is
an expert within cluster developments and
assists the project with concrete recommendations
for the future projects based on the
workshops with Offshore Center Danmark
member companies. ■
