Aluminium is characterized by light weight
and being non-corrosive. Aluminium is only
sparsely used on Danish offshore platforms,
but has proven to be a viable offshore material
within certain specialised areas. The
offshore industry has a massive focus on corrosion
and weight and looks upon aluminium
as a possible alternative material.

In order to identify the market for aluminium
use offshore, Offshore Center Danmark
coordinated a team of companies and institutions
working on a market screening of the
status, possibilities and barriers for the use
of aluminium to traditional steel structures
offshore.

the screening presented at a conference in
Esbjerg. ■
