Offshore Center Danmark has been given
the administrative lead in the European
Union sponsored project to develop an oil
spill management training system. Other
main partners are RKK Rogaland from
Norway, the Sasemar Centro Jovellanos
Integral Maritime Safety Training Centre
from Spain, the Estonian Maritime
Academy, the Admiral Danish Fleet and the
Danish IT partner Antilope IT.
A unique way of training in oil spill
management using a web-based communication
package, including chat windows,
live training instructors placed remotely and
easily adjustable training scenarios has been
developed.
Pre-defi ned training exercises are built on
actual training scenarios and simulated in
advance using oil simulation tools. Exercises
provide graphical maps – satellite shots
– with oil spill locations and their development
in time.
