Danish operators are focusing
on new markets:
The Danish operators are engaged several
places in the world. The following list includes
the signifi cant activities. In addition
to operators many Danish service companies
are active abroad.
Norway (and Denmark)
In Norway the company Pelican was acquired
by DONG Energy in 2001, leading
to increased Norwegian E&P activities. The
Norwegian branch is today called DONG
Norge, which is operator on four exploration
licenses in Norway.
In the year 2004 DONG Energy acquired a
10 percentage share in the natural gas fi eld
Ormen Lange, which went into operation
late 2007. Natural gas is transported from
Nyhamna in Norway to Easington on the
British coast, through the world’s longest
marine pipeline, called Langeled (translated
“Long-joint”). The DONG Energy share of
Ormen Lange corresponds to 10 years of
natural gas consumption in Denmark.
DONG Energy is
active in the Danish,
the Norwegian and the
British part of the North Sea
and the Atlantic Ocean, with participation
in 66 exploration and production
licenses, and with activities off the coast of
Western Greenland.
Hess has been active in the North Sea since
1963. In Denmark, the Danish division of
the company Hess Denmark is active in a
series of licences including the fi elds South
Arne, Amalie, Lulita and Hejre. In Norway,
Hess is active in the fi elds Trym and
Mjølner. Only Syd-Arne and Lulita are in
production, with a subsea pipeline transporting
the gas from Syd-Arne to the coast
