Editor’s Letter
Every day on the social media, all kinds of messages
are randomly posted giving people a choice to like or
share. One particular message that caught my attention,
was one calling on Nigerians to rise up and be our
brother’s keeper as a lot of Nigerians are going through
hard times, occasioned by the poor economic situation of
the country.
With many family’s economy totally crippled by the
harsh economic environment, a lot of Nigerians are slipping
gradually into depression while those completely driven to
their wits end, now find suicide a more appealing option.
While government may not be aware of a widows child
who dropped out of school because her mother could not
shoulder the burden of paying school fees, the haves in
the widow’s community can rise to the occasion to help
both mother and child. And the time to give those
interventions is now if we must truly be our brothers
keeper.
Mr. Lucky Igbokwe, a philanthropist and UN Mayor of
Peace knows this too well. Helping poor and indigent
members of his home state, has become like a calling for
him as he lives to better the lives of others. On our cover
today, he talks about his charity works and how he does
all in his power to bring joy to women and children,
through his poverty alleviation programmes. Page 8-10.
When it comes to men’s fashion, accessories play a big
role. As simple as they may look, they have great impact
in the overall look of the man. Linda Orajekwe lists some
basic items to stock in your wardrobe. Page 4-5
If you wear suits like our cover guests today, then you
must dress by the rules. What are they? Let Yemisi
Suleiman guide you. Page 7
Ebuka
Obi-Uchendu
By - Rita Chioma
We are indeed loving Ebuka Obi Uchendu! Whatever style
he chooses to wear, he nails it with his strategic details and
accessories such as shoes and hats.
He majorly rocks made in Nigeria brands and they never
disappoint in making him look sophisticated. He personality we
truly admire.
Ebuka looks really
simple in this plain white
traditional outfit and
matching red cap.
When it comes
to Agbada,
Ebuka is always
on point. He
looks
sophisticated in
this version of
Agbada with his
signature cap.
This time he looks
dapper wearing
sea-green velvet
jacket on a plain
trouser, and a cap
to compliment the
look.
During the
days of Big
stepped out in
a monotone
ox-blood suit,
styled by
Here, he dazzles
in a white suit on
Rules for
Wearing A Suit
FASHION
By - Yemisi Suleiman
The suit is a fashion staple
in every modern man’s
wardrobe. Whether it’s
brought out to be worn for
those special red carpet or
black tie events, or as an
office wear, a suit will always
be your essential go-to at
some point.
However, like all things,
there are some rules you
always need to know and
follow to get the best out of
your suit.
Tips to Note
*The suit jacket should be just long
enough to cover your pants zipper and
butt
*Never mix a patterned suit with a
patterned shirt.
*Keep your colour palette muted,
especially when opting for a tie.
*Opt for a charcoal or gray suit over
black, unless you’re attending a funeral.
*For a more casual, trendy look, opt for
a single-button peak-lapel jacket.
*Your tie should always be darker than
your dress shirt.
*You should be able to slip your hand
between your chest and your buttoned
jacket.
Socks
Make sure that your socks are long enough so
that there is no exposed leg when sitting down.
Ties
If you choose to opt for a tie make sure you
know how to get the most out of it. Your tie
should JUST reach the waistband of your
trousers, or be slightly shorter The width of the
tie should match the width of the lapel.
Pocket Square
Check shoulder fit
If you sweat a lot,
wear an undershirt.
Suitable for more formal occasions, opting
for a pocket square always elevates that
sophisticated touch, but make sure it doesn’t
match your tie in either pattern or fabric choice.
Simply opt for a pocket square which holds
a similar colour palette, keeping consistency
within your look.
When buying an off-the-rack suit, the number
one thing to check is how the shoulders fit.
With the options of slim and skinny fit, which
is undoubtedly the most popular amongst
the modern man today, wether slim or broad
shoulders, understanding the differences will
help you greatly.
Know your measurements
Understanding your measurements
are vital when purchasing your next
suit. From your arm and leg length
to chest, make sure you know your
numbers. Once you have your
measurements down always give
your desired suit a try.
Belt
Your belt should be fairly thin and the
same colour as your shoes..Your shirt
will be tucked in so your belt may be
evident for all to see. Make sure the
colours are not too different, as it will
catch someone’s eye.
Shoes
Shoe colour is important because
it complements your choice of suit.
Black suit and black shoes are the “sit
on the fence” option, but if you actually
want to look like you don’t just own
one suit, you will need options. Brown
always works well with navy, but not
necessarily always with grey. So be
careful with your selection.
Sleeves/ Cuffs
Ideally, the shirt sleeves or cuffs should exceed the
suit jacket by about half an inch and certainly no
more than an inch or less than the actual jacket.
Trouser length
The length of your trousers must sit perfectly on
your ankle, before it rests on your shoe.
Colour
Black should not be the preferred choice most
of the time as it generally represents funeral
attire. Navy is just as slimming as your typical jet
black suit. Perfect to be worn with more classic
shoes such as brogues or derbies (in black,
brown or tan), a navy full suit is still just as fitting
for your job as it is for a wedding.
Always unbutton your suit before sitting down
Before you sit down, you need to unbutton your
suit jacket, as you’ll want to keep the jacket from
stretching due to pressure on the buttons. You’ll
also feel a lot more comfortable by unbuttoning
your jacket.
Lucky
Igbokwe
- In Pursuit Of
Global Peace
Words By - Yemisi Suleiman
Privately fighting the course of women, children and the
vulnerable in the society is Lucky Igbokwe (also known as Don
Lulu). A United Nations Mayor for Peace, the serial entrepreneur
has his hands in many pies; including entertainment,
construction among others. He is also into charity; establishing the Green
Peace Nigeria and Don Lulu Foundation that provides access to quality
education for children, shelter to the less privileged, widow
empowerment.
With a strong passion to transform lives through his Foundation, the
prominent indigene of Umuahia in Abia State, recently, launched the
foundation’s poverty alleviation project in Ohuhu in Umuahia North
Local Government Area of Abia State. The event attracted top dignitaries
and celebrities in the entertainment industry. An important highlight of
the ceremony was the commissioning of projects executed by the
foundation; they include a foundation laying for a block of classrooms at
the Central School, Umuawa Alaocha, Ohuhu Umuahia North LGA,
completed bungalows built for the less privileged, a 300pm Megawatts
capacity of electricity power transformer, a 40 million Naira interest free
revolving loan facility accessible to artisans and traders, as well as the
empowerment of widows and physically challenged.
The event also saw the United Nations Polac hoist the United Nations Flag
in Don Lulu’s residence in recognition of his attainment of the highest
level of global peace advocacy.
What is the objective behind the launch of the
Poverty Alleviation Project?
The Don Lulu Foundation decided to launch
its version of the Poverty Alleviation Program, to
qualitatively transform the lives and education of our
children through our Back to School campaign and
Scholarship Endowment Fund.
We want people to have access to quality education
through our Back to school campaign and establishment
of the Scholarship Endowment Fund, Provision of
shelter and housing to the less privileged, Widows
empowerment and the setting aside of a counterpart
funding 40 million Naira interest free revolving loan
facility to artisans, traders among other indigent
members of the community and support for a broad
range of social, health development projects.
As a UN Peace Ambassador, what are you doing to
ensure that women in igbo land especially, those in
your community are not denied inheritance rights?
My position as a UN Mayor for Peace is evident in
the way I live my life. I Practice “living for the sake of
R EP ORTAGE
INTERVIEW
others” which is the guiding principle for building world
peace and a global community.
Now to your particular question, the Nigerian law
provides for a widow of a civil marriage to be entitled to
the couple’s property upon the death of her husband.
However, as we all know, the Nigerian reality is different.
The right of the widow has often been ignored, or
challenged by the family of her dead husband.
In Nigeria, there are recognised inheritance laws.
According to statutory law, a wife inherits half of the
whole estate if there are no children; but customary
law says that a wife cannot inherit but can stay in her
husband’s family, by agreeing to be inherited by one of
his kinsmen.w This is archaic but still practiced in many
parts and I totally disagree with this law.
I and my foundation are for women’s rights, and I
think we all as men, need to take steps to ensure that
women in general and especially in my community, are
not denied their inheritance rights.
As husbands, we need to make provision for wives
in case of anything. We must not shy away from making
our wives our next-of-kin, a relationship recognised in
law as conferring the rights to an individual’s entitlements
or property from a third party, especially if the man died
without a will. If all men take this upon themselves, I think
this issue of women being denied of their inheritance will
be reduced considerably.
How do you fund all these projects?
Right now, it is self- funded through my other
businesses ; 2Flame Entertainment and Lucion Towers
Construction company.
As husbands, we
need to make
provision for wives
in case of
anything. We must
not shy away from
making our wives
our next-of-kin
How do you ensure that items donated or bought for
the indigent women and children get to them and
not hijacked by others?
Like I explained, right now, we do not take donations
from any individuals or organisations. This is something
we have been doing for over 10 years even though, we
just officially launched it. My team and I go down to the
grass root and access those that are in real need. So we
liaise with the people on a one-to-one basis.
We have a lot of Foundation that claim to assist
the poor and some turn out to be fraudulent. What
stands your foundation out from the numerous ones
we have in the country?
The evidence is there for everyone to see. We
have been doing things for the past 10 years. There
is a saying that charity starts at home, so we started
with my community in Ohuhu in Umuahia North
Local Government Area of Abia State. We have been
alleviating the plight of people in this community in the
last 10 years. We have provided education for children
up to university level, we have empowered widows and
petty traders during this time as well. The evidence is
there and those we have helped, can testify to this.
An even more concrete evidence is the foundation
laying for a block of classrooms at the Central School,
Umuawa Alaocha, during our launch recently. We also
completed three modern bungalows built for the less
privileged, provided a 300pm Megawatts capacity of
electricity power transformer. Now, we are executing a
40 million Naira interest free revolving loan facility that
will be accessible to artisans and traders. We have been
and still continue to empower widows and the physically
challenged.
What inspired your going into different business
and projects you are involved in?
I would attribute it to my mother, my mother was an
astute businesswoman, who is very hard working, and
knows how to put in all her strength and energy into
whatever she sets out to do. She trained us with that
spirit of hard work, endurance, and doggedness and that
has been my strategy in business and life in general.
As a voice in the entertainment industry, how would
you describe the music industry and what would
you say is not done right, that should be done
differently?
The Nigerian Entertainment industry has grown
tremendously in the last 10 years. Nigerian music
is recognized everywhere in the world, the world is
yearning for our music and talents. Our artists are doing
phenomenal foreign collaborations, making moves that
pioneers of the industry could only dream of. My advice
to artists is that they need to remain focused and humble
because talent alone cannot get them far. For some of
them, the sky is just a starting point. So, I would say they
need to always remember their humble beginnings.
On the business side, I would say they should work
with a label company and management that would
guide them in the right path. In my experience, most
of these artists do not understand the business side of
music. They just want to become famous, and like they
say now, “I want to blow”. They need to understand
that it’s not about being famous, but, also about having
longevity in the career.
In the area of regulation, intellectual piracy is a major
issue making it difficult to make money. With greater
regulation in the entertainment industry, we would see
more growth: which means more tax revenue for the
government.
The government also needs to invest in developing
the technological expertise, and infrastructure that can
support our industry. The entertainment industry is one
of the fastest growing industries in Nigeria, but it needs a
support system if it is to grow further.
What challenges have you faced so far doing your
businesses?
This is not peculiar to me or my business alone. The
country at the moment is facing economic recession,
and that has been a challenge for every business within
the country today. Aside the economic recession, the
enabling environment suitable for businesses to thrive
is not in place. We are faced with poor infrastructure,
challenges in energy generation and security: and that
has made the cost of doing business very high with
businesses losing profit.
What can be done to solve some of these challenges
you have mentioned?
The government should try to improve infrastructure.
They should work on improving power generation
as that will enhance business growth and attract
investment into the economy. In my line of business,
aside infrastructural challenges, piracy is one thing that
is killing the entertainment industry. The government
should endeavour to improve on the law that tackles the
challenges of piracy in the country. As it is right now, the
players in the industry are not making the required profit
and that is stifling both the practitioners and the investors
in the industry.
What is your eventual dream for the foundation?
I have come to realize that the only way to create
long-term improvement and empowerment, and literally
change somebody’s life, is through education. That is the
reason for the creation of my Back to School campaign
and Scholarship Endowment Fund. So my dream is
to inspire and empower people to become the best
versions of themselves.
It is my dream also to make all the campaigns
of the Don Lulu Foundation accessible to anyone in
Nigeria. I want to be able to empower children to get
the education they need, provide things that are basic
amenities elsewhere in the world such as electricity,
water, healthcare. I want to empower entrepreneurs,
widows and everyday citizens with the skills, tools and
financial support they need to live better lives in their
communities. It’s a big dream, and I am just getting
started.
What would you want to be remembered for in life at
the end of it all?
I would like to be remembered as that man who lived
for others, cared for the less privileged, while pursuing
his passion to the fullest.
What inspires you in life?
My daily experiences and interactions inspire me.
When you not working how do you take time off to
relax?
I am a typical homeboy; I derive immense joy
hanging out with my family and my friends.
What is that one lesson you would say life has
taught you as an individual?
My greatest lesson in life was learned when I lost my
father. It was a really difficult time in my life.
How was your growing up years?
I am from an average home. At some points, life
was tough but my parents kept us going under strict
parentage. They never allowed my five siblings and I to
stray from the way they created for us. wanted to bring
us up.
You obviously love fashion, what is your must keep
style tip?
I would say keep things clean and simple, that has
always worked for me.
S elfie
With Delphine Okobah
By - Linda Orajekwe
From a career in architecture to a multi-layered media
mogul as she loves to call herself, Delphine Okobah
has created a brand for herself-The Delphinator that
dissects everything well on TV. Delphine is a Youtuber
but with love for movies. In no time, her passion for the
job, set her apart from others as she has grown on social
space and expanded her reach.
In this edition, Delphinator talks about fashion, travel,
and beauty in this print Selfie!
What’s fashion to you?
Fashion to me means comfort. I try not
to wear things I’m not comfortable in, but
then that’s my personal perspective to it.
How would you describe your
personal style?
My personal style Is whimsical and laid
back. I’m not a fan of too many things
going on at the same time.
What do you think about the Nigerian
fashion industry?
It’s super eclectic. So many options to
choose from but, we’re still struggling with
getting the perfect finishing and appropriate
costing. There are way too many overpriced
items!
Who’s your favourite Nigerian
designer?
Ah! I’ve got tons of Nigerian designers
whose pieces I like to rock. From Andrea
Iyamah to Moofa to House of GDI, then
there is Spaziolabel. I can keep going on. I
feel Nigerian designers are doing
great and you can get great
pieces from a whole lot of them
these days.
What pulled you
to Nollywood
when you started
TheDelphinatorTV?
I went to the Africa
International Film
Festival is 2016, and I was
blown away by the kind
of content I saw there. I
was convinced I had to shine
more light on the progress
Nollywood has made in this
generation.
Since you’ve been discussing Nollywood
and their products, what would you say
are some of the significant changes you’ve
witnessed?
Oh, Production quality! It’s definitely
improved over the years.
What would be your ideal Nollywood?
My ideal Nollywood would be a
Nollywood that pays more attention to
the story they’re telling, the structure it
takes and pacing. These things are really
important hence, more attention should be
given to it.
Do you have a beauty routine?
Hmmm! Not really. I just
make sure I don’t go to bed
with Makeup on my face.
I know you’ve been
hitting the gym for
almost a month now,
what informed that
decision and how has
the journey been?
I made a decision to
start going to the gym
when I climbed the
”
Fashion to
me means
comfort
stairs one day and I couldn’t breathe. So
I decided to do something about keeping
fit. The decision has been really tough;
especially, with staying consistent and
having to be at the gym by 5:30 am. I just do
my best to trudge along.
How would you describe your eating
habit before and after starting your
gym session?
I generally just eat one big meal a day
which consists mostly of carbs, and a lot
of rubbish in between. But since I started
working out, I’ve had to change my diet.
Now I eat more regularly and in smaller
portions at least 4 times a day, with more
colours, veggies in each meal.
How do you relax?
After much work, I try to relax the best
ways I can which are through watching
movies, reading books or hangibg out with
friends.
What are your ideal vacation spots in
Africa and the world?
I’d love to visit Marrakech and Machu
Picchu
What are you passionate about in life?
Making sure I finish the work I was
placed on earth to do.
What’s your watchword in life?
One word I try my best to live by is to be
consistent.
What words do you have for young
people looking to treading the same
path as you?
My advice to young people who want to
do a similar job is that they should know
and understand that life is in phases; they
shouldn’t be in such a hurry. Give yourself
time to grow.
Frizzle To Sizzle
Most often, after wedlock and children,
couples start to live as roommates, take each
other for granted, get sunk down by a
monotonous routine instead of the onceloving
couple.
Couples tend to invest much into looking
charming for each other when courting, and
change after marriage; forgetting that love is
constant and passion needs recharging
every now and then.
No need for showing off or impressing
others about your love for your spouse, keep
it meaningful between the two of you. A
relationship left on its own, cannot survive
due to the indifference of the two persons
concerned. Your romantic needs have to be
spiced up, less fight, more easier and
enjoyable strong bond, these can be
implemented by indulging in some creative
tips to rump up the passion aspect of your
marriage.
Be ready to do stuff you don’t normally
love but, which your partner cherishes but
doesn’t get to do regularly. This way, you are
telling him/her that his/her needs and desires
are more important to you. It may not be
every time but enough to let them know you
care.
List those things you appreciate and most
thankful for in your union, tuck them away in
different corners of the house and then play
a game like treasure hunt to find them. You
can also play hide and seek and end the
game in the bedroom.
Make plans for a mystery night that will be
packed full of exciting surprises; building
anticipation. When paired with romance, this
usually increases sex drive and arousal.
With children, you need to make
arrangement for weekends and present days
with Adesuwa 07011289316 | adesuwaewoigbokhan@hotmail.com
worth of available date night out to show your
spouse, prioritize your spending time alone
together.
Recreate those key components of your
first date, and communicate what you
thought back then and you will be surprised
at how much fun this will be.
Be silly together as couples. Having fun
and being playful brings to memory, the joy
you share and the reason you chose each
other in the first place. Move away from
monotony activity, experiment, explore and
discover something new about one another.
Regularly pay each other compliments.
Write loving adjectives about your spouse
and text, email or whatsapp. Alternatively,
whisper them one at a time throughout the
day and week. The use of affirmative words
are also to be encouraged.
Relive the days when you used to allow
your significant part mix tape of all your
favorite songs. Go the digital way by creating
a romantic and fabulous playlist on their iPod
or Smartphone so that as he or she listens to
it, they will think of you.
Plan ahead a bedroom picnic with food
enhancers, sex toys to delight each other with
for desert.
Make main dish a special sexy dinner with
ingredients that contain aphrodisiacs like
oysters, tomatoes, pine nuts, spices and
wine.
Construct homemade love coupons for
your partner to ‘’cash in’’ whenever they
choose to.
Finally, note that surprises are good when
they are beneficial to both mates in wedlock.
Let your spouse know you love them each
and every day, as routine is a great enemy of
passion.
Hair Loss /
Balding
A full head of hair usually has a total of 100,000 to
150,000 strands and it is normal to lose some hair
everyday (about 150 to 200 strands). Baldness
refers to excessive hair loss from your scalp and
can be the result of heredity, certain medications
or an underlying medical condition. Men, women
and children can experience hair loss. The medical
term for hair loss is Alopecia. The most common
type is male pattern baldness also known as
Androgenic Alopecia which accounts for 95% of
cases of hair loss from the scalp. This form of
alopecia is characteristically permanent and can
be attributed to heredity. In this condition, the
hair follicles are genetically predisposed to being
sensitive to a metabolite of testosterone know as
DHT (dihydrotestosterone). These follicles shrink
when exposed to DHT and eventually become
incapable of producing hair. Alopecia Areata is a
form of alopecia that may be temporary and could
involve hair on the scalp as well as the body. This
form of hair loss usually occurs in small, round
and smooth patches and is an auto-immune
disorder.
To better understand hair loss it is helpful to
understand the biology of hair. There are 3 stages
of hair development namely: Growth, Resting and
Shedding. Not all hairs are in the same stage at the
same time. About 90% of hair is in the growth
phase while the other 10% is in the resting phase
after which it is shed. When the rate of shedding
exceeds the rate of regrowth the result is baldness.
The Growth or Anagen phase can last between
2 and 6 years and the hair shaft is at its thickest.
Caucasian hair grows about one-half to one inch a
month while Black African hair grows much
slower. The Resting or Catagen phase lasts 2 to 3
months and the Shedding or Telogen phase lasts
five to six weeks and with this process, new hair
begins to grow to replace shed telogen hair which
is very fine.
Individuals with Androgenic hair loss typically
start losing hair in their teenage years. It is
common in men but may also affect women.
Heredity determines the age at which loss starts
and the developmental speed, pattern and extent
of loss. In men, the loss usually begins at the
temples and the crown and the end result may be
complete or partial baldness. In women with
androgenic hair loss, the hair loss is usually
limited to the front, side or crown and it is rare to
see complete baldness in women.
Alopecia Areata is classified as an autoimmune
disease and the cause is unknown. Patients with
this condition are usually in good health and there
may also be a hereditary factor. Unlike androgenic
alopecia, the hair usually grows back but the loss
may occur several times.
Other causes of temporary hair loss
include :
• Poor Nutrition when protein, zinc, biotin and
iron are deficient
• Diseases like syphilis, diabetes, thyroid
disorders, amyloidosis and lupus
• Certain Medications used for the treatment of
arthritis, gout, depression, heart disease and
hypertension.
• Oral contraceptives may lead to hair loss in
some women
• Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy
• After stressful events such as Childbirth,
Illness and Surgery
• Infants often lose hair during the first several
months of life
• Scalp Infections such as ringworm and Hair
Treatments done incorrectly such as dying,
tinting, perming and bleaching
• Some hairstyles pull the hair too tightly
leading to hair loss known as traction alopecia.
Treatment
You should start by seeing a Doctor to help
determine the cause of your hair loss and to
prescribe treatment. Investigations including
blood tests and biopsies may be carried out to help
reach a diagnosis.
Baldness cannot be cured but there are
treatments available to help promote growth and
cover up hair loss. Spontaneous hair growth
without any form of treatment may be seen in
some forms of alopecia. The effectiveness of
medications used to treat alopecia depends on the
cause of hair loss, the extent of loss and individual
response. Treatment is generally less effective in
extensive cases of loss.
Drugs used for the treatment of alopecia
include:
• Minoxidil (Rogaine) a topical preparation
rubbed into the scalp which is used for the
treatment of androgenic alopecia and alopecia
areata
• Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar) a tablet taken
daily to treat male pattern alopecia
• Corticosteroids injections into the scalp used to
treat alopecia areata
• Steroid creams may also be used but are not as
effective as the injectables
• Anthralin (Drithocreme) a tarry substance
applied to the scalp and washed off daily
Surgical Procedures such as hair transplants
are available to treat androgenic alopecia. During
transplantation, a cosmetic surgeon or
dermatologist takes tiny plugs of skin from the
nape or side of the scalp containing one to several
hair follicles and transplants them in the balding
areas. Several sessions may be needed since
hereditary loss progresses.
Scalp reduction is another surgical procedure
where the bald scalp is surgically removed and
hair covered scalp is stretched and sutured to
cover the area. Alternatively, a flap of scalp
containing hair may be folded over an area of bald
skin.
Wigs and hairpieces are alternatives to painful
expensive surgery.
There are other options available when
fighting hair loss:
• Nizoral Shampoo has been helpful in cases of
androgenic alopecia
• FNS (Follicle Nutrient Serum) contains natural
ingredients that stimulate hair growth
• Flutamide a prescription medication blocks the
effect of androgenic hormones like DHT
(Dihydrotestosterone It is used to treat excessive
facial hair growth in women with PCOS (Polycystic
Ovarian Syndrome) and female pattern baldness
• GHK Copper Peptides inhibit the enzyme 5
alpha-reductase necessary for the formation of
DHT
• Minimize Physical and Chemical Trauma to the
hair due to processes such as perming, flat ironing,
dyeing and heat styling.
How To Keep
Warm During
Rainy Season
By - Tope Ojo
If you are prone to catching a cold easily,
then it is time to ditch your sleeveless shirts
because the rainy season has begun! It is best
to be ready, know what outfit to wear as the
weather is unpredictable.
And contrary to thoughts that one cannot
look good and keep warm this season, it is very
possible to look stylish and stand-out still. All
you need are these minor tips on how to stay
warm and dry from head to toe.
Denim
denim
jacket
Denim is an all-around, classic
fashion piece. It’s always on trend
and will always be a reliable go-to
item. A denim jacket can go with just
about everything, with the added
advantage of keeping anyone warm
and snug. As for having them as bottoms,
opt for cropped denim jeans.
Refrain from wearing materials
like leather and suede because they
are vulnerable in the rain.
fanciful
umbrella
Keep an umbrella handy
Most people don’t fancy the idea of rain
coats, so the best way to keep you and your
clothes dry and warm is to use an umbrella
when the rain pours. You can get a trendy,
stylish colour of umbrella which goes with
most colours of the clothing in your wardrobe.
layering top
Fanciful Sweaters To The Rescue
You could also get
fanciful sweaters/
cardigans or a nice
blazer, a long sleeved
shirt, with a good pair
of snickers or shoeson-the-go,
to enable
you to achieve the
business casual look
and give you mobility.
Take Something
Extra
There’s nothing worse
than wet, soggy socks
and drenched shirts.
Remember to keep
extra shoes, socks, and
clothes in your bag in
case any of those get
wet
strappy sandals
cardigan
jeans
Perfect chance
for layers
A classic move to stay warm
in the cold is to dump multiple
layers of clothing onto your body.
You can pick several pieces that
accentuate each other perfectly.
A plain top with your choice of
bottoms, plus a colourful jacket
would have you good to go.
Throw on a scarf to tie the whole
look together.
chinos
Wear Dark Colours
Its general knowledge that
black radiates heat. Besides
mud stains and rain water is
most visible on light colours.
So, go with black coloured
dressing and other dark
colours
neon jelly
Wear Waterproof
Shoes
Flood easily builds up
when it rains, so wear
shoes that you wouldn’t
mind getting stained and
soaked. Or wear waterproof
ones like jelly shoes
or sandals. Also, the floors
are extra slippery when
wet so wear shoes that are
slip-resistant.

For TVC’s Deputy Director Programmes, Morayo
Afolabi - Brown, the first entertainment Breakfast show
in Nigeria was created to ensure that viewers awake
to exciting mornings, and so helping to set the tone for
their day. “We initially found that all breakfast shows
were talking politics and policy issues. No one was
entertaining anyone in the mornings. Our objective was
to attract a new set of audience at that morning belt,
and I think we have been able to achieve that.” she
said.
Morayo noted that over the last decade, the taste
of the Nigerian viewer has evolved dramatically just
as their yearning for premium entertainment content
has grown significantly. Wake Up Nigeria she says
is TVC’s robust response to that yearning. “It’s a
show for everyone with a tutored taste for top-notch
entertainment content that is both captivating and
cerebral.”
