ARTEX ME406 ELT<br />

The Artex ME-406 is a single output ELT. Two emergency<br />

frequencies (121.5 and 406.028 MHz) utilize<br />

the same RF output, requiring only one coax cable to<br />

connect to the new series of Artex single input antennas.<br />

The ELT automatically activates during a crash and transmits the<br />

standard swept tone on 121.5 MHz. Every 50 seconds for 440 milliseconds<br />

the 406 MHz transmitter turns on and transmits an encoded digital<br />

message to the Cospas/Sarsat satellite system.The mounting hardware<br />

for the ME-406 Series is compatible with all previous models of Artex 406<br />

MHz, as well as the ELT200 Series, ACK, Pointer Model 3000 ELT and<br />

Narco ELT’s. Current owners of Artex 2-frequency ELT can re-use the<br />

remote switch in the cockpit as well as the wiring harness from the cockpit<br />

to the ELT thus greatly reducing installation costs.<br />

406 ELTS WITH INTERNAL GPS.<br />

Along with the 406MHz emergency signal, Copas/ Sarsat satellites will<br />

read your specific GPS location during a crash. The<br />

GPS automatically updates every 15 seconds and<br />

upon activation bursts a 5 watt signal within 25<br />

meters every 50 seconds to the Global Satellite<br />

System. Search and Rescue will be notified of your<br />

location within minutes. The ELT406GPS mounts<br />

with most standard ELT configurations from previous<br />

manufacturers. GPS data comes from the internal module<br />

in the ELT- 406GPS. There is no need to install expensive<br />

interface modules and retrieve GPS information from existing<br />

systems. The antenna houses both 406 MHz and GPS passive antenna<br />

in a sleek blade configuration. A replaceable 5 year battery pack is easily<br />

ARTEX 406 MHZ ELTS 1000<br />

The ARTEX ELT 1000 is a value-priced upgrade to<br />

standard 121.5 MHz transmitters, which are no longer<br />

monitored by the Cospas-Sarsat system. The 406 MHz<br />

transmitter produces a much more accurate position,<br />

typically 3 kilometers as compared with 15 to 20 kilometers<br />

for 121.5 MHz transmitters. When coupled to the aircraft<br />

navigation system via a navigation interface, the ELT<br />

1000’s accuracy improves to approximately 100 meters.<br />
