displays with menu-driven tap-and-drag user interface. Transition seamlessly from runways to roadways

expertise in integrated systems design, the aera series offers a full range of smart, easy-to-use guidance
solutions for today’s pilot/motorist. In your aircraft, the aera’s detailed Sectional chart-style shaded
mapping and extensive terrain and aviation databases (including private airports and heliports) help you
visualize your flight path in relation to nearby navaids, terrain, SUAs, obstructions, and so on. For added
safety, a database-driven terrain advisory feature offers TAWS-like color coding and pop-up alerts when
possible obstructions or ground proximity conflicts loom ahead. Garmin’s patented Panel Page affords
a reassuring backup to your panel-mounted instruments with its exclusive display of GPS-derived HSI,
altimeter, groundspeed, vertical speed and turn indication. Plus, on the aera 550 and 560 models,
preloaded Garmin SafeTaxi® charts provide detailed taxiway diagrams and position information for over
950 U.S. airports – while an included AOPA Airport Directory database gives you detailed listings, phone numbers, facilities and fuel location information
on over 7,400 U.S. landing sites, as well as airports of entry for Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Other premium aera 550/560 features include highresolution
9 arc-second terrain/obstacle detail, database-derived IFR airways map mode, and more. Further, TIS traffic alerting is supported by all four
aera models (through an interface with your aircraft’s Garmin GTX 330 Mode
S transponder or other compatible third-party traffic devices).

Revolutionary new 3D Vision technology shows a virtual 3-D behind-the-aircraft perspective of surrounding terrain derived
from GPS and the onboard terrain database – a feature previously only available in our panel-mount avionics. Simply slide
your finger across the touchscreen to rotate the view and show land and water features, obstacles,
runways and airport signposts in relative proximity to the aircraft. Internal GPS provides position
updates at a rate of 5 times per second (5 Hz). aera 796’s bright 7” diagonal high-definition sunlightreadable
display makes detailed mapping easy to see in any lighting conditions and works in both
portrait and landscape mode. The physical design has been optimized to fit on the yoke or for use
as a knee-mounted device. There are only 4 touch keys on the bezel representing “Back”, “Menu”,
“Direct-to” and “Nearest” for quick navigation to the most frequent used functions. All other functions
are quickly accessed through Intuitive onscreen icons with labels. This unique touchscreen interface
even allows you to quickly pan across the map screen and pinch to zoom. Fullfills the role of either
a Class I or Class II electronic flight bag, greatly reducing the need to rely on paper charts in the
cockpit. Initial georeferenced VFR sectional and IRF enroute charts come preloaded that show your
position overlaid directly on the relevant chart. When in IFR map mode, the 796 can display victor
aircraft’s
airways, jet routes, minimum enroute altitudes and leg distance, much like what’s found on traditional enroute charts.
