GLOBAL CALL TO ACTION FOR A BAN ON URANIUM MINING
“Uranium ore mining and the production or uranium oxide (yellowcake) are irresponsible
and represent a grave threat to health and to the environment. Both processes involve
an elementary violation of human rights and their use lead to incalculable risk for world
peace and an obstacle to nuclear disarmament.”

the 19th World Congress in Basel, Switzerland
WELTWEITER AUFRUF ZUR ÄCHTUNG VON URANABBAU
“Uranabbau und die Herstellung von Uranoxid (Yellowcake) sind nicht verantwortbar und
stellen eine schwere Bedrohung der menschlichen Gesundheit und der Umwelt dar. Beide
Prozesse gehen mit einer elementare Verletzung der Menschenrechte einher, und ihre
Nutzung führt zu einem nicht mehr kalkulierbaren Risiko für den Weltfrieden und zu einem
Hindernis für die atomare Abrüstung.”
Aus der Resolution “ Weltweiter Aufruf zur Ächtung von Uranabbau” des Internationalen Rats der IPPNW
(Internationale Ärzte zur Verhütung des Atomkriegs) angenommen am 29. August 2010 während des
19. Weltkongresses in Basel (Schweiz).
IPPNW Germany takes this opportunity to express its gratitude to the Nuclear-Free Future Award for the constructive and
solid collaboration, beginning in 2000. This cooperation gave birth to the conference “Sacred Land, Poisoned Peoples”
on Indigenous Peoples, Health and Uranium Mining on August 26, 2010 in Basel, Switzerland. The conference’s “The
Declaration of Basel” was a major impulse to the resolution for the global call to action for a ban on uranium mining.
Other partners in the organization of “Sacred Land, Poisoned Peoples” were Incomindios Schweiz; Society for Threatened
Peoples, Germany; Society for Threatened Peoples, Switzerland, uranium-network.org, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung; our thanks
also go to them.
IPPNW Deutschland bedankt sich in diesem Zusammenhang beim Nuclear-Free Future Award für die konstruktive und
beständige Kooperation seit 2000. Aus diesem engen Arbeitsbündnis entstand die Konferenz “Sacred Land, Poisoned
Peoples” über Indigene Völker, Gesundheit und Uranabbau am 26. August 2010 in Basel; sie endete mit einer “Deklaration
von Basel”, die einen maßgeblichen Impuls darstellte für die Resolution zur Ächtung von Uranabbau.
