TEACHER’S GUIDE
This activity book is designed to enhance pupils listening, speaking, reading and writing
skills through fun enrichment activities. The units are arranged according to the sequence
of the alphabets. Each unit will provide various pencil activities to strengthen writing skills.
At the end of each unit, there is a fun enrichment activity which also encourages higher
order thinking skill (HOTS). Each fun activity will also promote creative thinking as it requires
the pupils to make a story based on a picture. Besides that, pupils are required to
name the objects in the picture which helps to strengthen their picture recognition skills.
UNIT
1 PREWRITING ACTIVITIES
The fine motor skills required in writing involve good hand-eye coordination.
These skills can be developed through various pencil activities such as:
• Scribbling: Drawing continuous lines of wavy and zigzag patterns.
• Colouring: Shading using different colours. Guide the pupils to colour
horizontal, vertical and oblique lines or bars. The drawing of circles should
be taught later. Ensure that the pupils colour within the boundaries given.
• Channeling: Requires drawing a line between two boundaries.
• Tracing: Requires joining lines between adjacent points.
• Copying: Involves writing or drawing the given letter or pattern.

• Fun Activity: Find the alphabets and recognize the things in the bedroom.
• HOTS: Tell a story based on the picture.

• Colour or channel, trace and copy alphabets e to h.
• Fun Activity: Match the animals’ pictures to the correct word.
• HOTS: Tell a story based on the picture.

• Colour or channel, trace and copy alphabets i to l.
• Fun Activity: Find objects with straight lines and recognize the things at
the playground.
• HOTS: Tell a story based on the picture.

• Colour or channel, trace and copy alphabets m to p.
• Fun Activity: Find round or oval objects in the picture and say
the name of the objects.
• HOTS: Tell a story based on the picture.

• Channel, trace and copy alphabets q to t.
• Fun Activity: Find small and capital letters in the treasure
map.
• HOTS: Tell a story based on the picture.

• Channel, trace and copy alphabets u to z.
• Fun Activity: Find a way to the playground by tracing the
path using finger.
• HOTS: Tell a story based on the picture.

• Fun Activity: Say, trace and copy the words and greetings
based on a song called “Good Morning”.
