TEACHER’S GUIDE<br />

This activity book is designed to enhance pupils listening, speaking, reading and writing<br />

skills through fun enrichment activities. The units are arranged according to the sequence<br />

of the alphabets. Each unit will provide various pencil activities to strengthen writing skills.<br />

At the end of each unit, there is a fun enrichment activity which also encourages higher<br />

order thinking skill (HOTS). Each fun activity will also promote creative thinking as it requires<br />

the pupils to make a story based on a picture. Besides that, pupils are required to<br />

name the objects in the picture which helps to strengthen their picture recognition skills.<br />

UNIT<br />

1 PREWRITING ACTIVITIES<br />

The fine motor skills required in writing involve good hand-eye coordination.<br />

These skills can be developed through various pencil activities such as:<br />

• Scribbling: Drawing continuous lines of wavy and zigzag patterns.<br />

• Colouring: Shading using different colours. Guide the pupils to colour<br />

horizontal, vertical and oblique lines or bars. The drawing of circles should<br />

be taught later. Ensure that the pupils colour within the boundaries given.<br />

• Channeling: Requires drawing a line between two boundaries.<br />

• Tracing: Requires joining lines between adjacent points.<br />

• Copying: Involves writing or drawing the given letter or pattern.<br />

• Fun Activity: Find the alphabets and recognize the things in the bedroom.<br />
