SETTING THE CONTEXT<br />
March 2017: a completely<br />
innocuous hyperextension<br />
of my right leg results in a<br />
complete detachment of<br />
my ACL at both fixture points, a cracked<br />
patella cap, torn meniscus and a vertical<br />
tear along my MCL. All this without<br />
coming off the bike. Pretty frustrating,<br />
not that I wanted to crash – but if you’re<br />
going to do this much damage then<br />
you want to feel that you did it properly!<br />
Being the stubborn twat that I am, I<br />
refused to have the injury seen to and<br />
lived through three months of sleep<br />
robbing just so I could ride the Trefle<br />
Lozerien that June. I finally succumbed<br />
to complete knee reconstruction<br />
surgery after the event. The recovery<br />
time before I could swing a leg over a<br />
bike would be at least nine months and<br />
the Doc says it could take up to two<br />
years to regain full tendon strength.<br />
All of which was rather annoying, as<br />
we had bought the 2017 Husqvarna<br />
FE350 as a long-termer just days<br />
