CALGARY EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT<br />

The Department of Emergency Medicine (Alberta Health Services – Calgary) is now accepting<br />

applications for full time emergency physicians. Flexible start dates are available, beginning in 2012<br />

and 2013.<br />

The Calgary Department of Emergency Medicine encompasses two emergency medicine residency<br />

programs and three hospital sites seeing over 200,000 patients per year. A fourth hospital site, the<br />

South Health Campus will be opening in Winter 2013. In addition to a full spectrum of high acuity<br />

clinical medicine, trauma and cardiac care, we have active programs in human patient simulation and<br />

EM ultrasound, and Calgary is the home of STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society), one of North<br />

America’s longest operating rotary wing aero medical systems. The Calgary Department of Emergency<br />

Medicine has a growing academic program with research and teaching opportunities.<br />

Applications are invited for the position of Head of the Department of<br />

Paediatrics at Queen’s University, Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General<br />

Hospital, which are fully a�liated teaching hospitals. We are searching for an academic physician<br />

with proven administrative experience and leadership skills who, as Head, will draw on strong interpersonal<br />

and organizational skills to develop and manage teams that will foster excellence in teaching, patient care and<br />

research within the Department and the region. The quali�ed applicant must be eligible for licensure in Ontario.<br />

With a complement of 21 full-time physicians and 18 adjunct appointees, the Department of Paediatrics maintains<br />

a division of general pediatrics, as well as a number of sub-specialties, including developmental paediatrics,<br />

gastroenterology, hematology/oncology and neonatology. Its members are actively involved in undergraduate,<br />

postgraduate and continuing medical education, and established research foci include basic science research in<br />

gastroenterology and molecular genetics. Clinically, the Department has a paediatric inpatient unit that includes<br />

critical care paediatrics and a neonatal intensive care unit that provides care to premature and term infants from<br />

across southeastern Ontario. Ambulatory care includes the Children’s Outpatient Centre, the Child Development<br />

Eastern Health invites applications for the locum position(s) of Psychiatrist with the<br />

Mental Health & Addictions Program of Eastern Health. These locum positions are<br />

available January 2013.<br />

The Physicians will join an established group of Psychiatrists who work within the<br />

multidisciplinary teams of the Mental Health & Addictions Program. The successful<br />

applicant will be accountable for the following:<br />

• Provide care at an Inpatient Psychiatry Unit;<br />

• Provide some outpatient psychiatry services;<br />

• Participation in the adult psychiatry on-call service;<br />

• Participation in the clinical education of clerks and psychiatry residents.<br />

There is no overhead; office and administrative support are included.<br />

All applicants must be licensed to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons<br />

of Newfoundland and Labrador and must be granted privileges by Eastern Regional<br />

Health Authority.<br />
