competition over the last 50 years, both of these
sportsmen would be held in the same sporting
esteem as the likes of Usain Bolt and Michael
Phelps.
So there is no shortage of anglers who have
achieved the same years of training, knowledge,
experience and skill levels in their sport as those
competitors in other Olympic Sports. To those critics
who say fishing is not really a great a spectator
sport I say “watch synchronized swimming for an
hour and then watch an angler fight a massive
sailfish for an hour and tell me what creates the
biggest adrenalin rush.
There is no shortage
of anglers who have

other Olympic Sports.
If Rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming
and what? race walking? can become Olympic
Sport, then fishing should certainly be part of the
Olympic Games.
