Two Thousand Eighteen will see the running
of the 7th Zambales Lifeguard Challenge,
again sponsored by Standard Insurance
Co., Inc., this is fast becoming the premier
lifesaving sports event in the Philippines, due
to Zambales Lifesaving Inc. continuous drive for
precision training, safer beaches and drowning
awareness and prevention.
The growth of this event has
been continuous, with the
first event in 2012 being pool
events and only four teams,
every year it gets bigger
and better; this is brought
about by the continued
assistance of the Standard
Insurance Co., Inc. who
understand the value to the
community that drowning
awareness brings. Also the
support of the Provincial
Government of Zambales
through the support of
Hon. Governor Atty. Amor
Deloso, Congresswoman
Cheryl Deloso-Montalla and
a number of the LGU’s, especially Iba and San
Narciso.
Since the inception of the program, Zambales
Lifesavings president Mr. Roger Bound has
worked hard to bring the swimming community
and lifesaving together, this has resulted in

a number of competitive swimmers joining
lifesaving and a number of lifesavers also
joining the swimming ranks, which has greatly
benefited both groups and the Province
through sharing ideas and recourses.
Also the recent support of Surf Life Saving Far
North Coast that is assisting
with supply of equipment
that is being issued to
resorts that support the
program, so as to improve
safety on the beaches of
Zambales.
The 2018 event will be held
on the third weekend of
March, which will become
the permanent date of the
event, so in 2018 will be
March 17 and 18.
Even this early there is
interest from a number
of out of province teams,
including Cebu and Bohol,
Zambales Lifesaving are also
hoping that the Naga team can find a sponsor,
as they are fast developing as an extremely
strong team and the more experience they can
get, the stronger they will become.
To assist teams in keeping cost down, teams
will consist of only two persons, these can be
