Chapter 36: Mentioning of the disagreement between the tribes of<br />
Quraish – Banoo Haashim and Banoo `Abdul Muṭṭalib – in helping the<br />
ﷺ Messenger of <strong>Al</strong>laah<br />
The Messenger of <strong>Al</strong>laah ﷺ continued as before, calling upon his people by day and<br />
night, secretly and openly, calling out as per the Command of <strong>Al</strong>laah ,تعاىل fearing no<br />
man.<br />
<strong>Al</strong>laah having provided his Messenger with protection against the Quraish through his<br />
the help of his uncles and his relatives of Banoo Haashim and Banoo `Abdul Muṭṭalib,<br />
Quraish were unable to treat him with the violence they wished. Consequently, they<br />
set about mocking, ridiculing him and disputing with him.<br />
The Qur’aan then began coming down, concentrating on the evil deeds of Quraish and<br />
those who had declared themselves to be his enemies. Some of them were mentioned<br />
by name to us, while others were inferred among those polytheists to whom general<br />
reference was made.<br />
Ibn Is-ḥaaq mentioned 270 about Abu Lahab and the revelation of an (entire) Surah<br />
concerning him. 271<br />
<strong>Al</strong>so, there was a reference to al-`Aaṣ Ibn Waa’il in the revelation:<br />
﴿أَفَرَأَي تَ ُالَّذِيُكَفَرَُبِآيَاتِنَاُوَقَالَ ُِّلَ وتَنيََُّمَاّل ُوَوَلَد ا﴾<br />
{Then, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our Signs and said: “I will surely be given<br />
wealth and children [in the next life]?”.} [Surah Maryam (19): 77]<br />
