Poland reported real economic growth of around 6 percent in 2004. The furniture
industry’s share in GDP came to around 2 percent – twice that of the European Union.
Some 4.3 percent of all furniture produced in Europe now comes from Poland.
20 Percent Growth in Poland
Low production and labor costs, highly qualified employees and secure raw material supplies
are the main location advantages for the production of furniture and particleboard in
Poland. Pfleiderer Engineered Wood has increased production capacity at its Polish sites in
order to meet market growth in Eastern Europe. Now, a new plant involving an investment
of around 60 million euros is also under construction in Russia. This will provide a further
important foundation from which we can realize our strategy of international growth.
