78 Secrets of a Fairy Godmother
Here’s a terrible example, because it’s such a good one: there
are a lot of people who say they don’t want to be wealthy. I hear
this all the time! “I don’t want to be wealthy.” And the people
who say this say it like this is noble and honorable.
Our culture has developed an attitude that it’s really a great
thing to not want to be wealthy because being wealthy,
according to a highly prevalent limiting belief, is that people
who are wealthy are on an “Ego Trip”, like the celebrities you
see in the news. People who say they don’t want wealth typically
believe that wealthy people are greedy, lack compassion, are
wasteful, etc.
Because there is a predominant belief that wealthy people are
like this, many non-wealthy people have a limiting belief like
this: “I don’t want to be like the wealthy people I see; I don’t
want to be that kind of person. This is what it means to be
wealthy, so I don’t want to be.”
