Building friendships through dance
Early years dance classes are the ideal way for everyone to make
new friends – parents, carers and children alike.
Principal, Jill Bridger, of the Jill Bridger School of Dance is delighted
to announce that we will be bringing our popular Melody Bear preschool
classes to two new communities in Cambridgeshire in
September; Eddington and Northstowe. Our Little Bear Feet with
Melody Bear parent/carer and toddler classes are the perfect way
for families moving into new communities to enjoy quality time
together and build lasting friendships. As the young dancers grow
and flourish through our Melody Movement stepping-stone
curriculum, so too does our school’s family network.
The school’s experience in working with new communities is
reflected in the success of its Cambourne branch whereby the young
children Jill first taught, in the small Portakabin fondly known as
‘The Ark’, are now working on their Royal Academy of Dance
Grade 8 ballet with opportunities to start Melody Bear teacher
training too, thus completing a full circle.
forthcoming shows visit www.danceschool.biz or call 01480
Coram Cambridgeshire Adoption
Coram Cambridgeshire Adoption find forever families for children
who need permanent, loving homes. We support Early Permanence
carers to enable a child in care under the age of two to find foster
carers who are ready and willing to adopt them later if the courts
decide they cannot live with their birth family
Sarah and Neil felt Fostering for Adoption was right for them
despite the uncertainties they faced. “Right from the start we felt
really positive about Fostering for Adoption because we feel it is the
right thing for the babies and children involved, as they do not have
to move often.
“Paul was 36 hours old when we collected him from hospital. At this
stage, we were his foster carers and attended regular contact visits
with his birth parents. I would think to myself, 'They’re his parents.
I’m helping with the baby while they’re sorting themselves out'.
“There was one moment, when Paul wasn’t sleeping and we were
lying on the bed. He reached out and touched my face. I thought,
Who are you kidding, you love this baby so much”.
Sarah and Neil are now adoptive parents for Paul.
Supporting families with our Summer Schools
Busy parents trying to do the best for their children over the long
summer holidays are faced with lots of challenges. We know that
physical activity is fantastic for children to keep them active and
improve their overall well-being but trying to tear them away from
screen time is not an easy task.
This year, why not get youngsters to try something different and take
part in a performing arts summer course. Razzamataz Cambridge is
holding a fun Summer School with themes based around ‘Barnum’
and ‘The Greatest Showman’.
The Summer School is open to current and non-students and will take
place Monday 30th July - Friday 3rd August at St Andrews Hall,
Chesterton CB4 1DH. No experience is required although those
already practiced in the performing arts will be challenged and
encouraged to push themselves even further.
Milton Maize Maze
Farmer Rob and the Maze Team have been busy getting the Maze
ready and this year you can explore our giant 7 acre Magical and
Mythical Maze perhaps you will come across a Phoenix or Unicorn
along the way!
Following the success and popularity of Jezo’s visits last year we will
have daily entertainment in our large entertainment marquee “The
Crazy Cornitorium” with daily shows from the end of July.
Water Wars will return – so remember your towel if you want to join
in the fun. We will also have the wooden maze, and all the activities
in the Field of Fun; Go karts, Duck Racing, Zip Wire, The Milton Mine
& The Tractor and
Trailer ride around
the farm. You can
also take a stroll
around the paths in
the Wild Flower
Meadow and have
a go at Farmer
Rob’s Frisbee Golf
or Feed the Fish &
Goats on the Farm
Trail.
You won’t go
hungry as there will
“Whether you are a working parent or want to give your child the
opportunity to try something different, the Summer School is a good
way to introduce
youngsters to
performing arts and to
challenge those who
already take classes,”
says Emma Louise
Principal of
Razzamataz
Cambridge. “It’s
difficult to keep
children entertained
over the long holiday
but we know from experience that the Summer Schools are a highlight
for many.”
To find out more email: cambridge@razzamataz.co.uk
be a daily BBQ on The Field of Fun or you can have a cup of coffee
Magic Shoe Shop
The Magic Shoe Shop was launched by sisters Emma and
Harriet Gervasio, in response to the lack of quality and choice
they found around Cambridge for their own children’s shoes.
Emma and Harriet have stocked up their favourite children’s
shoes from Froddo, Bobux, Babybotte, Shoesme and Petasil,
and bring their mobile shop to markets, children’s events,
schools, and customer’s own homes. “Well designed and
made shoes are so important to protect children’s feet as they
are growing” said Emma. “They should be practical but also
look absolutely gorgeous – the kids love wearing them.”
“We take away all that hassle of trailing kids around shoe
shops,” added Harriet. “Buying shoes from The Magic Shoe
Shop is easy and fun. We’ve got a carefully selected range for
boys and girls, going from baby up to adult sizes, including
prewalkers, sandals, trainers, and school shoes.” The Magic
Shoe Shop is on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and
