humanity enshrined in divinity. <strong>In</strong> His humanity<br />

He hung Himself upon His Fa<strong>the</strong>r for help, for<br />

strength, for all that He needed as humanity; in His<br />

divinity, <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r dwelt in Him, and worked<br />

through Him. He was divinity in humanity, <strong>the</strong><br />

roots reaching to heaven, but He was humanity<br />

enshrined in divinity. So He says in John 14:10:<br />

“Believest thou not that I am in <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r, and <strong>the</strong><br />

Fa<strong>the</strong>r in Me? <strong>the</strong> words that I speak unto you, I<br />

speak not of Myself; but <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r that dwelleth in<br />

Me, He doeth <strong>the</strong> works.” And He asked for His<br />

disciples, “That <strong>the</strong>y all may be one; as Thou,<br />

Fa<strong>the</strong>r, art in Me, and I in Thee.” (John 17:21)<br />

Christ was that union of <strong>the</strong> divine and <strong>the</strong> human,<br />

which is <strong>the</strong> perfection of humanity, because of<br />

divinity working in and through humanity.<br />

“No man hath seen God at any time; <strong>the</strong> only<br />

begotten Son, which is in <strong>the</strong> bosom of <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r,<br />

He hath declared Him.” (John 1:18) Notice <strong>the</strong><br />

statement. It does not say, “who came from <strong>the</strong><br />

bosom of <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r,” but “which is in <strong>the</strong> bosom<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r.” There was such a union between<br />

Christ and His Fa<strong>the</strong>r that where Christ was, <strong>the</strong>re<br />
