deliverance of God’s people from <strong>the</strong>ir foes can<br />

only be followed by <strong>the</strong> coming of <strong>the</strong> Lord Jesus<br />

and <strong>the</strong> destruction of <strong>the</strong>ir enemies. God is so<br />

slow to pour out His wrath upon those who have<br />

rejected Him, that He seems almost to have<br />

deserted His people. But God will “avenge His<br />

own elect, which cry day and night unto Him,<br />

though He bear long with <strong>the</strong>m.”<br />

“But when ye shall hear of wars and<br />

commotions, be not terrified; for <strong>the</strong>se things must<br />

first come to pass; but <strong>the</strong> end is not by and by.<br />

Then said He unto <strong>the</strong>m, Nation shall rise against<br />

nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and great<br />

earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines<br />
