Business
For 15 years, Guernsey has been home to
Delphine Pesrin-Auder, co-owner of three
popular St Peter Port restaurants – Le Petit
Bistro, Le Petit Café and Octopus. Formerly
from Brittany, France, Delphine and her now
husband, executive chef and restaurateur
Mickael Pesrin, arrived in 2003, fell in love
with the island, and never looked back.
When Delphine moved to Guernsey she was
soon appointed deputy manageress of Christies, a
restaurant situated a short stroll from her own eatery
in the Lower Pollet. Mickael was the second chef at
Christies. In 2005 the pair were charged with running
the new addition to Guernsey’s food scene – Le Petit
Bistro – and bought the business not long after.
Delphine puts the success of their businesses
down to a mix of great quality produce,
especially seafood, that is readily available
on the island, and people’s love of food.
The French-themed, tongue-in-cheek atmosphere
and décor of Le Petit Bistro and Le Petit Café, has
helped their success too, she believes. ‘Maybe it’s
because we save our guests the journey; they don’t
need to go to France to eat French food,’ she said.
The proximity of the island to France was also a big
draw for Delphine, who hails from northern Brittany.
‘It’s not like we’re on the other side of the world. Yes,
it’s a bit different here, but we also have a connection
being French – and Guernsey people love France.’
