RESOLUTION IT EXPANDS DIGITAL
TRANSFORMATION DEPARTMENT
With the digital transformation
of businesses growing globally,
Resolution IT has expanded and
further strengthened its existing
digital transformation department
in response to an increased
understanding of its importance and
need by Guernsey businesses. Pierre
Jehan, Client Services Director
who heads up the department,
said: ‘Digital connectivity and
continuous advances in technology
have opened up a world of global
opportunities for Guernsey-based
businesses. However, what it has
also done is highlight how some
of them are not ready to meet
that demand when competing
against others who are far more
technologically able.
‘Traditional systems and processes
have in the past served Guernsey
businesses very well. However,
with competition from abroad
and locally, companies must now
reassess how they have always
managed their business.
He continued: ‘The statistics
make for compelling reading. A
recent Microsoft report on digital
transformation revealed 53% of UK
businesses and IT leaders say their
industries will face significant digital
disruption within the next two years
but crucially, 47% say they have no
digital transformation strategy in place
‘Digital transformation can help
businesses save time and money
but most importantly, it dramatically
COLLAS CRILL ADVISES
PRIVATE HNW LENDERS
ON FINANCING OF
PARK PLACE
Collas Crill has assisted two private
high net worth lenders on a £5.5
million financing for the acquisition
and development of Park Place in
St Peter Port. The development will
entail a significant refurbishment of
the building to prime commercial
office space prior to being marketed
with multiple lettable units.
The team at Collas Crill consisted of
consultant Shelagh Mason, Partner
and Head of the property team,
Jason Green, Group Partner and
Head of the commercial team, Paul
Wilkes, Senior Associate Tristan
improves the customer experience.
Products such as data modelling,
client portals and online boardpacks
are great examples of how businesses
can start their digital transformation
journey. The whole point of digital
transformation is that you are giving
value to your customer because the
customer experience should be at the
heart of any digital strategy.'
Pierre believes there needs to
be a cultural change with some
businesses in Guernsey, if they are
to not only survive but prosper. ‘A
successful digital transformation
is only achieved in tandem with
a cultural change and that starts
from the top and works its way
down through the business. Don’t
forget, the workforce entering the
market now, Generation Z, is the
demographic most associated with
technology. They’re looking to work
for organisations that are modern
and tech-savvy and if not, they’ll
look elsewhere.
'There are many small to mediumsized
businesses here that haven’t
taken that on board. It’s not about
buying in to one or two pieces of
technology and believing you’re done.
It’s about looking at your business as a
whole and seeing where technology
can take it to the next level and
provide the best possible experience
for your customers. If that doesn’t
happen, they’ll be off to the business
that can offer it and the outlook
for those Guernsey businesses will
remain uncertain.’
Ozanne, Associate Ben Le Page and
paralegal Harry Round.
Charles Keay of Cranborne Chase
Asset Finance London who acts
as onshore adviser to the senior
lenders said: 'I just want to reiterate
how delighted we have been with
the support of Collas Crill LLP
throughout and in particular the
lead taken by Tristan, ably assisted
by Ben, who have worked tirelessly
to get this done. Well done to all.'
Jason Green said: 'Our team worked
tirelessly to get this deal across
the line often with interesting
challenges along the way. The
building is very much a well-known
landmark and its re-entry into the
office accommodation market will
be welcomed by many businesses
seeking medium-sized units of
quality accommodation.'
CAREY OLSEN BREAKS
INTO TOP THREE FOR
LSE CLIENTS
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen
now ranks third for the number
of companies it advises on the
London Stock Exchange (LSE) –
behind only onshore law firms
Slaughter and May (first) and
Herbert Smith Freehills (second).
Carey Olsen Partner Ben Morgan,
head of the firm's corporate and
finance group in Guernsey, said:
'Carey Olsen has for some time
been the go-to offshore law
firm for London Stock Exchange
listings, so it is therefore extremely
pleasing to see Carey Olsen take
a position alongside some of the
largest onshore law firms.'
The Corporate Advisers Ranking
Guide show that with 101 LSE
listed clients, Carey Olsen has
comfortably more than double
the number of the next nearest
offshore law firm. The firm has
also maintained its long-standing
position as the leading offshore
legal adviser for AIM-listed clients,
advising a total of 30 clients.
