Don’t fancy afternoon tea in the afternoon, well the Evening Tea at the
Midland Hotel is the perfect solution. Served between 5.30-7pm, it’s
just like having a four-course meal, in the hotel’s elegant, light and airy
tea room with high ceilings and period features. Delicious sandwiches
are served with unique fillings such as chicken, mango and coriander,
followed by a warm savoury course of cured Royal salmon with gin
and apple chutney, an ox cheek and blue cheese croquette, and a
firm favourite – buttermilk fried chicken with Sriracha sauce. All of
this goes alongside the welcome addition of plain and raisin scones,
with clotted cream and a selection of Mrs Darlington’s jams. To finish,
dive into the array of decadent desserts, including elderflower and
gooseberry tart gateaux and a salted caramel and dark chocolate tart.

Biddy’s is an independent
Victorian-inspired tea room
dreamed up by owner Charlie
Buchan and named after her dog
Biddy. Everything is homemade
and Biddy’s specialises in
creating tailored afternoon
teas in which you can choose
your own sandwiches, cakes,
scones and any of the 60 loose
leaf teas (but only one coffee).
Generous portions of freshly made
sandwiches are on offer, including
Norfolk ham, chilli jam and brie,
salt beef and horseradish and
goat’s cheese, honey and almond
with a fig relish. Follow up with
your choice of scone, from plain
and cheese or the more exotic
spiced fruit or lavender, before
devouring your personal selection
of delicious homemade cakes.
ELSIE’S TEA ROOMS,

This traditional, family-run tea
room is vintage in style, and
is uniquely set in a beautiful
characteristic building with a
vaulted ceiling and original beams.
The building was originally a stable
and all its original features have
been retained. Tea is definitely
a chosen favourite at this place,
where your food will be served
on vintage china tiered plates.
You will be able to choose from
a selection of freshly made
deep-filled sandwiches, either
warmed fruit or plain scones
with clotted cream or butter and
served with a delicious spoonful
of homemade fruity preserve, as
well as a choice of different teas.

the perfect place for afternoon
tea. Relax in the period-style
dining room with exquisite views
across the perfectly manicured
