BECKFORD’S TOWER
BATH
For a chance to have your own
Rapunzel experience, book and
stay at this stunning 154ft tower,
built in 1827. It was designed by
the eccentric William Beckford,
a connoisseur and collector,
who used it as his private
museum for his collection of
luxury items and paintings.
The main accommodation is
located at the base of the tower.
Beckford designed the interior
of the building to be just as
luxurious and richly decorated
as the treasure it contained. The
Landmark Trust have ensured that
the living quarters today are just as
extravagant as they were during
Beckford’s visits in the 1800s,
with painted coffered ceilings and
silk moiré hung on the walls.
Beckford’s Tower sleeps four,
with one twin room and one
double, one bathroom, a kitchen,
a living room and an impressive
set of stairs that spiral up to the
tower above. The building itself
is located 800ft above sea level,
so once you climb the additional
154ft of tower the views over
Bath city and the surrounding
countryside are incredible.
ACCOMMODATION
Beckford Tower is less than
20 miles from Bristol Airport
and there is plenty of parking
on site. For a hassle-free stay
Waitrose even offers food
delivery to the tower. Prices
start at £413 for four nights.
