Apparently six 2x4 LEGO ® bricks
can be combined in more than
915 million ways – that’s a fun fact
for you – so the building areas
located on various queue systems
can provide a welcome relief to
waiting children (and their parents).
And seeing as you no doubt
enjoyed that fun fact so much,
here’s another one; did you know
that LEGO ® is the largest producer
of wheels in the entire world?
As with any trip to a theme
park, the day ended in the
gift shop and if Carlsberg
made theme park shops…
With pocket money spent and
a few extra grey hairs it was
time to leave but as parents,
we learnt three valuable
lessons while at Legoland:
Lesson one: Always read the age
Over in LEGO ® City we queued
for the Driving School and only
learnt once at the front that
children need to be six to ride.
While they’re a dab hand with their
grandparents’ electric tractor in
the back garden, rules are rules
and we dutifully took them across
the way to L-Drivers, which didn’t
go down too well but a ride in a
LEGO ® car and acquisition of their
driving licence dried the tears in
the end. So, save yourself the tears
and always check for height or age
restrictions before you hop in line.
Lesson two: Look for the wait time
Eager to take in LEGO ® Ninjago
The Ride, we unwittingly joined
a very long queue just before
lunchtime. The excitement of
the upcoming 4D interactive
ride did well to stave off most of
the hangriness but to be honest,
we could have all done with a
little sustenance beforehand.
I’ve since discovered you can
download a free Legoland
Windsor app that can keep you
updated on queue times amongst
other things. So, make sure
you add that to your phone.
Lesson three: Book in to a hotel
The whole Legoland experience
continues after park closing time
with two Legoland hotels, where
you can spend the night in one of
its fully themed bedrooms before
more adventures the next day. In
hindsight, there is so much to do
and see, we should have stayed
in one of the hotels and enjoyed
the resort for a second day.
Oh well, we’ll just have
to go again one day.
