DAY 1
10AM – A MAGICAL BEGINNING
Start your trip with a visit to the village of Burley.
With a rich history of witches and magic, English folklore
suggests that Burley is the location of a dragon’s lair.
There are plenty of shops full of witchy treats to get your
fix of magic, but while you’re there, stop off at Burley
Fudge and treat yourself to more than 30 flavours of
handmade fudge and the many different types,
including gluten-free options, vegan, dairy free and
alternative sugar fudges.
3PM – WALK THIS WAY
In need of some post-lunch fresh air, explore
the New Forest in the best way possible – on two
legs. There are more than 140 miles of tracks and
footpath, where you can enjoy easy-to-follow walking
routes, short strolls or long-distance trails. Try out
the Whitefield Moor walk, which has two routes of
varying lengths, and a view of Rhinefield House Hotel
across the heathland. Don’t forget to check out the
Rufus Stone, which marks the spot where King ‘Rufus’
William was supposedly killed by an arrow in 1100.
11.30AM – BEAUTIFUL BEAULIEU
Beaulieu was one of the first stately homes to admit
visitors in the 1950s and since then thousands of
people have come to see the gardens, the house, and
the prestigious car collection at the National Motor
Museum. There are more than 250 vehicles on display,
as well as a monorail and Beaulieu Abbey. Beaulieu’s
sister attraction Buckler’s Hard sits on Beaulieu river
and here you can discover what it was like to live
and work in an 18th-century shipbuilding village.
7PM – SUPPORTING LOCAL
EXPLORING THE NEW FOREST
You’re going to want to end your day of fresh
countryside air with some well-earned food and drinks
and there’s nowhere better than Framptons in Ringwood.
With jazz on Sunday afternoons and cocktails expertly
crafted by the hipster bar staff, you’ll soon find yourself
relaxing and grazing over the extensive menu. The
restaurant prides itself on working closely with local
artisan suppliers, so whether it’s meat and game from
Ringwood, charcuterie from Dorset or fruit and veg from
Bournemouth, you’re guaranteed a first-class meal.
1PM – LUNCH WITH A VIEW
PALACE HOUSE BEAULIEU
It’s time to refuel, so head to Lymington, sit by the
quay and enjoy some fresh fish at The Ship Inn. Keep it
simple with the beer-battered cod fish finger sandwich,
all washed down with one of the fantastic real ales on
offer. If that doesn’t float your boat, also on the quay,
you can find The Elderflower, an award-winning
restaurant which serves modern British food with a
sprinkling of French using locally sourced produce
from both the land and sea.
