DAY 1<br />

10AM – A MAGICAL BEGINNING<br />

Start your trip with a visit to the village of Burley.<br />

With a rich history of witches and magic, <strong>En</strong>glish folklore<br />

suggests that Burley is the location of a dragon’s lair.<br />

There are plenty of shops full of witchy treats to get your<br />

fix of magic, but while you’re there, stop off at Burley<br />

Fudge and treat yourself to more than 30 flavours of<br />

handmade fudge and the many different types,<br />

including gluten-free options, vegan, dairy free and<br />

alternative sugar fudges.<br />

3PM – WALK THIS WAY<br />

In need of some post-lunch fresh air, explore<br />

the New Forest in the best way possible – on two<br />

legs. There are more than 140 miles of tracks and<br />

footpath, where you can enjoy easy-to-follow walking<br />

routes, short strolls or long-distance trails. Try out<br />

the Whitefield Moor walk, which has two routes of<br />

varying lengths, and a view of Rhinefield House Hotel<br />

across the heathland. Don’t forget to check out the<br />

Rufus Stone, which marks the spot where King ‘Rufus’<br />

William was supposedly killed by an arrow in 1100.<br />

11.30AM – BEAUTIFUL BEAULIEU<br />

Beaulieu was one of the first stately homes to admit<br />

visitors in the 1950s and since then thousands of<br />

people have come to see the gardens, the house, and<br />

the prestigious car collection at the National Motor<br />

Museum. There are more than 250 vehicles on display,<br />

as well as a monorail and Beaulieu Abbey. Beaulieu’s<br />

sister attraction Buckler’s Hard sits on Beaulieu river<br />

and here you can discover what it was like to live<br />

and work in an 18th-century shipbuilding village.<br />

7PM – SUPPORTING LOCAL<br />

EXPLORING THE NEW FOREST<br />

You’re going to want to end your day of fresh<br />

countryside air with some well-earned food and drinks<br />

and there’s nowhere better than Framptons in Ringwood.<br />

With jazz on Sunday afternoons and cocktails expertly<br />

crafted by the hipster bar staff, you’ll soon find yourself<br />

relaxing and grazing over the extensive menu. The<br />

restaurant prides itself on working closely with local<br />

artisan suppliers, so whether it’s meat and game from<br />

Ringwood, charcuterie from Dorset or fruit and veg from<br />

Bournemouth, you’re guaranteed a first-class meal.<br />

1PM – LUNCH WITH A VIEW<br />

It’s time to refuel, so head to Lymington, sit by the<br />

quay and enjoy some fresh fish at The Ship Inn. Keep it<br />

simple with the beer-battered cod fish finger sandwich,<br />

all washed down with one of the fantastic real ales on<br />

offer. If that doesn’t float your boat, also on the quay,<br />

you can find The Elderflower, an award-winning<br />

restaurant which serves modern British food with a<br />

sprinkling of French using locally sourced produce<br />

from both the land and sea.<br />
