GET INTO FILMMAKING<br />

The Digital Greenhouse<br />

Guernsey Independent Film<br />

Productions will be running<br />

film courses in the island with<br />

the support of the Guernsey<br />

Arts Commission and Digital<br />

Greenhouse. This is the first<br />

edition Get into Filmmaking,<br />

which is tailored for Guernsey film<br />

enthusiasts, film makers or anyone<br />

with an interest in the world of<br />

film and cinema. The hands-on<br />

SCARECROW FESTIVAL<br />

Torteval Parish Church<br />

Join hundreds of islanders and<br />

visitors and take a stroll through the<br />

beautiful south west of Guernsey.<br />

Follow the festival path and vote<br />

for your favourite of over 60<br />

scarecrows in all shapes and sizes.<br />

course will cover all the basics of<br />

filmmaking in order to get you<br />

started in realising your own projects<br />

and students will have access to an<br />

array of professional film equipment.<br />

THE WEST SHOW<br />

L’Eree Aerodrome<br />

Celebrated for more than 100<br />

years, agricultural and horicultural<br />

traditions are on show on Guernsey’s<br />

west coast, as well as an array of<br />

local costume, fairground rides,<br />

competition entries to view, evening<br />

entertainment and much more.<br />

18 August<br />

DONKEY DERBY<br />

Saumarez Park<br />

This popular annual event includes<br />

a variety of charity stalls, Crown<br />

& Anchor and not forgetting<br />

the donkey races. A tote will be<br />

set-up to enable you to have<br />

a flutter, and a beer tent will<br />

be open for refreshments.<br />

CHANNEL ISLANDS<br />

PRIDE 2018<br />

This year’s Channel Islands LGBTQ<br />

Pride festivities and parade will be held<br />

in Guernsey for the second time.<br />

GUERNSEY AIR<br />

DISPLAY<br />

St Peter Port<br />

town centre<br />

The Red Arrows are back in 2018 for<br />

the Guernsey Air Display, formerly<br />

known as the Battle of Britain Air<br />

Display, which has been an annual<br />

fixture in the Guernsey calendar<br />

for over forty years. Free to watch,<br />

the air show always includes an<br />

impressive array of military aircrafts<br />

both historical and modern day.<br />

This popular event remembers and<br />

honours those who served in the<br />

Royal Air Force during World War<br />

II and in particular the pilots and<br />

crews who served in the Battle of<br />

Britain from June-October 1940.<br />
