Vazon Bay, Crabbies, as it’s fondly known locally,
is a quirky restaurant with an informal setting
boasting good food, attentive staff and a large
outdoor play area for children to let off steam.
Looking for some good pub food? The Imperial
serves modern British food alongside sea views and
offers a fantastic children’s menu without making you
feel you’re in a British version of Chuck E. Cheese’s.
It’s just a short stroll from the beautiful yet often
overlooked Portelet Beach. Afterwards the little ones
can explore Fort Pezeries on the way to the Table des
Poins – the Fairy Ring – to seek out the fairies, witches
and elves of local folklore. Guernsey Pearl and Fort
Grey Shipwreck Museum are just up the road too.
With a long and very rich history, Guernsey’s not
short of museums and heritage sites to keep young
minds busy. Explore the battlements and enjoy breathtaking
views towards the other islands as you take
in Castle Cornet in St Peter Port, which has guarded
the island’s harbour for 800 years. Or head to Candie
Gardens with a picnic and visit the museum before
relaxing in the historic gardens.
Guernsey Museums has over 70 historic sites in
its care ranging from Neolithic tombs built over
6,000 years ago through to German fortifications
constructed during the island’s Occupation by
German forces during WWII. Decide which ones you
need to see at museums.gov.gg/sites.
There’s an abundance
of other activities
to keep the little
ones entertained –
sightseeing tours on
the Petit Train, candle
making at Guernsey
Candles, mini golf at St
Pierre Park’s Pirate Bay
to name just a few.
And if you’re raising
mini thrill seekers,
head down to Karting
Guernsey on Victoria
Avenue and see who’s
got the best driving
skills in the family, or speak to Guernsey SUP or
Guernsey Surf School about some holiday lessons in
the water. For something you can’t do just anywhere,
book in with Outdoor Guernsey and try your hand
at coasteering – a unique adventure sport where
you’ll experience the thrill of sea level traversing, rock
scrambling, jumping and swimming in gullies and
caves. It’s certainly a new way to see the island.
Guernsey also plays host to a fantastic variety of
events from classic car shows and scarecrow festivals
to live music, agricultural shows and regattas. For a full
list of summer events taking place on the island go to
