The castle plays host to Fete
d’Etai on 19 August - Medieval
fun for all the family! Fete d’Etai
is pronounced ‘fight debt eye’
and means ‘summer festival’
in Guernsey’s native language,
Guernésiais. Featuring live music,
living history, craft activities and
more, the festival runs from 10am-
4pm and you can get in for free if
you’re wearing medieval costume.
KPMG CASTLE
NIGHTS PROVIDE AN
EVENING OF FREE
MUSIC IN WONDERFUL
SURROUNDINGS
For a more regular fix of the
past, there are Living History
presentations from the Guernsey
History in Action Company every
day from Easter to September.
They last about 20-30 minutes
and start most days at 12.15pm
(subject to change and occasional
cancellation on the day, so just
check at the shop when you
arrive). There are also children’s
trails to follow around the castle
and activity sheets in some of
the museums which you can
get from the castle shop.
KPMG Castle Nights provide
an evening of free music and
entertainment in wonderful
surroundings. Entry to the castle
is free from 6-9pm and many
locals settle down with a blanket
and picnic of their own. These
events have become a major part
of Guernsey’s summer calendar
and this year they return every
Friday night from 13 July-3 August.
Talking of music, a series of
concerts and dance recitals
are held every Sunday until
30 September in the beautiful
setting that is Candie Gardens.
Wander around the immaculate
gardens, take in the museum
and then grab a pot of delicious
Guernsey Dairy ice cream, relax
in the sunshine and enjoy while
local and visiting acts perform.
