<strong>The</strong> story <strong>of</strong> the code is somewhat different. <strong>The</strong> committee<br />

in charge <strong>of</strong> this work has had some difflculties, more especially in<br />

the matter <strong>of</strong> havlng the indering done. Very recently, however,<br />

rve have secured the services <strong>of</strong> Brother Duncan Kennedy, who is<br />

an expert in this fielal. He is now at work on it, but it will still<br />

be some time befole we can go to press $'ith it. We are sorly about<br />

this delay, but like so maDy things, lt is something over. which we<br />

had no contlol, so we beg <strong>of</strong> you to be patient rvith us untll we can<br />

get it out.<br />

<strong>The</strong> annual fall conference <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> Officels, Past<br />

Gland Mastels, committee members and District Representatives<br />

'was helcl at the above resort this past year instead <strong>of</strong> in St. Paul.<br />

<strong>The</strong> change met with the approval <strong>of</strong> all concerned as it combined<br />

buslness with pleasure in the lvay <strong>of</strong> an outing for the week-end.<br />

<strong>The</strong>le 'lvere 59 members present in which were included most<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Gland <strong>Lodge</strong> Officers, many <strong>of</strong> the Past <strong>Grand</strong> Masters and<br />

District Representatives.<br />

<strong>The</strong> meeting was called to order promptly at g:30 o'clock<br />

a, m. by the <strong>Grand</strong> Mastel who greeted the members and got th€<br />

business under way. A new departure this year was an executive<br />

session <strong>of</strong> the District Representative which was presided over by<br />

the Deputy <strong>Grand</strong> Master, R. W. Brother Ler.oy E. Matson. This<br />

ploved to be a very pr<strong>of</strong>itable and informative adjunct to the confelence<br />

and out <strong>of</strong> it came many fine suggestions for the future<br />

wolk <strong>of</strong> the District Representatives. A very fine report <strong>of</strong> thls<br />

executive meeting was made to the general conference by W.<br />

Brohel Donald Balnes <strong>of</strong> Duluth, representatlve from the Fifth<br />

district.<br />

Reports from the Gland Master and other <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> Officers<br />

on the annual communicatlons <strong>of</strong> other <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>s which<br />

they hatl attended were made.<br />

A number <strong>of</strong> leports from committee chairmen wer.e also<br />

made. <strong>The</strong> proposed increase <strong>of</strong> fifty cents in the per capita tax<br />

was ably presented by R. W. Willard L. Hillyer, Senior. <strong>Grand</strong><br />

Warden. It was forthwith fleely discussed by the members plesent<br />

and rnet with general approval.<br />

A delightful dinner was served by the lodge rvhich 'tvas enjoyed<br />

to the full. <strong>The</strong> business <strong>of</strong> the conference lyas transacted<br />

with dispatch and the meeting adjoulned in good tlme for many<br />

<strong>of</strong> the delegates to get home on the same day.<br />
