AAI All Appropriate Inquiry ACRONYMS/DEFINITIONS ACM Asbestos-containing material. Any material or product that contains more than 1% asbestos. ARARs Applicable or Relevant and Appropriate Requirements set forth by federal or state authorities. AST Above-ground Storage Tank. ASTM American Society for Testing and Materials. BUSTR Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations. CE Categorical Exclusion. CERCLA Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980. This act establishes liability that forces cleanup costs of contaminated sites to responsible parties. CERCLIS Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Information System. The CERCLIS List is a compilation of known or suspected uncontrolled or abandoned hazardous waste sites. These sites have either been investigated or are currently under investigation by the EPA for the release or threatened release of hazardous substances.
