The success and reliability of features developed in the past are key to the
development of innovative safety valves for the future. Use of electronic
control equipment in advanced completion systems is increasing (see
“Advances in Well and Reservoir Surveillance,” page 14.) This technology
has proven its reliability and functionality, providing real-time indications of
production behavior. State-of-the-art equipment now delivers these real-time
advantages to downhole safety systems in situations that, above all others,
require rapid response. This critical component of a safety system requires
focus and expertise to continue development and ensure safety and efficient
