So also it is with nations. <strong>The</strong> King <strong>of</strong> kings<br />

sets <strong>the</strong> course for every ship <strong>of</strong> state. Happy are<br />

<strong>the</strong> legislators who hold <strong>the</strong>reto. For <strong>the</strong> nation God<br />

appointeth a harbor <strong>of</strong> perfection in things civil,<br />

just as verily as for man he appointeth it in things<br />

religious. Should <strong>the</strong> nation turn aside and steer<br />

ano<strong>the</strong>r course, naught but <strong>the</strong> rocks <strong>of</strong> destruction<br />

await it. All this is clearly brought to view in <strong>the</strong><br />

great Book <strong>of</strong> books. For it is written that he “hath<br />

made <strong>of</strong> one blood all nations <strong>of</strong> men for to dwell<br />

on all <strong>the</strong> face <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> earth, and hath determined <strong>the</strong><br />

times before appointed and <strong>the</strong> bounds <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

habitation.” It is <strong>the</strong> Lord, <strong>the</strong>n, who determines <strong>the</strong><br />

time when nations shall rise and when <strong>the</strong>y shall<br />

totter to <strong>the</strong>ir fall. It is <strong>the</strong> great I Am who says to<br />

<strong>the</strong> nations concerning <strong>the</strong>ir boundaries, “Hi<strong>the</strong>rto<br />

shalt thou come, but no far<strong>the</strong>r: and here shall thy<br />

proud waves be stayed.” And Job said: “He leadeth<br />

away counselors spoiled, and maketh <strong>the</strong> judges<br />

fools. He looseth <strong>the</strong> bond <strong>of</strong> kings, and girdeth<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir loins with a girdle. He leadeth princes away<br />
