Reaching a Family Milestone

The Apostle John
writes in his 3 rd Epistle
to the believers at the
church in Ephesus that his greatest
joy is to hear that his children
are walking in the truth of the
Gospel. Church historians tell us
that at that time the beloved disciple
of the Lord Jesus Christ was
well advanced in years, probably
in his 90s. Well, my wife Maria
and I are only about to hit the
A Milestone for our Family
50th mark in a few years. This
year however we have reached
a milestone – we will celebrate
our 20 th Anniversary this summer!
Twenty years ago, on that
special day we said, “Yes, I do!”
to one another – that was on
July 26 th 1998. It’s been quite a
journey, we’ve had our ups and
downs, battles and victories, but
there’s one thing
we know - it’s never been
boring. The Lord’s goodness and
mercy have followed us all the
way to this day!
We figure, that one of the blessings
in disguise of getting older
is the experience of witnessing
how yesterday’s little children
have sprouted right in front of
us and now they are as tall as we
are and keep growing up!

Victoria and George turn a
page in their lives
This April our daughter Victoria turned 18 years old
and she was proud to march to the police station
with me, so she could have her new ID issued.
More than anything else, she was happy to get a
new photo, because she thought, that the old one
was revealing too many of the imperfections of
adolescence – namely acme spots. Victoria insists
that we should keep calling her Vickie, though. She
feels better like this. We are happy with it.
Our son George is the younger child, but he’s almost
as tall as I am! This June he will officially enter the
Teen Club – a most interesting time! He will turn 13
on June 15. I think he will be towering over me in
a year or so. It’s an exciting time for our family! As
I look at pictures from ten years ago, I find myself
reminiscing about those days, when Vickie and
George were small and sweet. Now, they speak up
and have their own opinions and oftentimes our
dining room/kitchen gets real loud because we
would have one of those big debates. That’s what
you get when we encourage everybody at home to
speak their mind.
A Season of Harvest –
The Fields are Ripe
In my previous update, I told you the story of the
Syrian young man Munir who gave his heart to the
Lord Jesus Christ and how Pastor David Haas and

Rev. Minh Towner became conduits of the Gospel
message that touched Munir in a powerful way.
But did I mention about the enthusiasm and energy
that Jim Jeffery, Todd Baldwin and Stephanie Brown
brought on the team! Our daughter Vickie received
her baptism in street evangelism because of the
bold approach Jim and Todd
had. They didn’t waste time but
went into the streets of Burgas
and crisscrossed ghetto-like
communities to share the love
of Jesus with the poorest of the
poor – Gypsy children and youth
and their families. While we were
doing the pastors’ conference Jim
came to me and said, “Dimitri,
you have to know that Vickie was
so natural in the way, she helped
us get the message about Jesus
to people in the streets! You have
to be proud of her and encourage
her!” I couldn’t say that better.
Daddy’s girl is perfect! I guess, I’m biased right here.
Jim, Todd and Stephanie praised God that they
could actually touch the lives of ordinary people by
sharing about Jesus, pray for the sick and lead many
in the prayer of repentance as they confessed Jesus
Christ as their Lord and Savior.

As a bonus Jim, Stephanie and Todd got some real
taste of our local culture by speaking for Jesus
in local cafes, and at people’s homes
where they prayed for little babies
and for those who suffer from
various diseases. I praise God
for those who are willing to
go and serve as the hands
and feet of Jesus Christ!

Our new brother in
Christ Munir, who
came to faith in Jesus
in April. He wants to
move out of the camp
and live in our city and
find employment in Burgas.
Pray for the processing of his
asylum status ID.
The soccer team of 15-20 Syrian/Iraqi refugees we
sponsor with our church partners.
They are meeting with the church
volunteers and have fellowship
with the local believers.
Outreach to children, youth
and families with a team
from Katy, Texas which
we will host together
with partners Hope for
the Balkans Mission
Network June 30-July
7. Our teams will lead
VBS and family themed
seminars.
Pastor Paul de Jong from
FPC Ft. Myers as he makes
plans to visit us with a small
team in August or September.
