Have you ever wondered how ultra-successful
people reach the top? What makes them different?
What gives them an advantage? Malcolm Gladwell’s
Outliers: The Story of Success offers a few answers.
Success results from a combination of obvious factors,
like passion, talent, hard work, and upbringing. Read
Outliers to find out some of the subtler secrets to
success. You may discover that you already have
much of what it takes to climb straight to the top!
In Stumbling on Happiness, author Daniel Gilbert
draws upon research in fields like psychology and
behavioral economics to examine how humans think
about the future and whether it will be positive. Our
imagination, though, tends to add and remove details
that are key to understanding what might happen. And
when we base decisions on incomplete information,
we may miss out on a happy and satisfying future.
Can we learn to imagine the future, and the happiness
it may hold, with greater success?
If you are a fan of the hit TV shows, Grey’s Anatomy
and Scandal, then you’ll love the book, The Year of
Yes: How to Dance it Out, Stand in the Sun, and Be
Your Own Person! Why? Because the writer of Grey’s
Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes, wrote this book to reflect
on her life as a working mom with an introverted
personality. She writes about a time when she’d
grown so accustomed to saying “No” to everything
that scared her, that she almost never said “Yes.”
After challenging herself to say “Yes” for a whole year,
Rhimes noticed a big difference in her approach to life.
