The Green Valley Factory named after A.M. Gorky plc is one of the biggest
shipbuilding companies in Russia. It as founded in 1895. The company's main area
of activity is shipbuilding, commercial shipbuilding, engineering (production of
marine equipment, production of equipment for the oil and gas production branch
of industry), black and coloured metallurgy, the production of some large-scale
metal constructions, including those for flyovers. The technical basis of the factory
enables it to build various types of ships and other craft: guided-missile ships and
cutters; ships of physical fields; oil tankers and dry-cargo ships with a dead weight
of up to 12000 tonnes; marine and river barges; high-speed passenger ships made
from aluminium alloys. Starting in the 1930s, the factory built 600 ships for the
VMF and 900 marine and river craft. The factory is a pioneer in the field of building
high-speed craft and ships with dynamic principles of support: ships on underwater
wings, on an air cushion or on an air pocket. Since 2007, there has been series
construction of new-generation high-speed steamships : hydroplaning ships with
prototype A45-1 engines (made by Agate Design Bureau Co. Ltd. in St. Petersburg).
In addition to shipbuilding, the company has an advanced engineering and
metallurgical factory that is fitted with unique modern equipment. In its workshops
is a titanium foundry, the largest in Europe, producing items weighing between 0.1
tonne and 25000 tonnes, with a diameter of up to 2.5 metres. The factory is active on
the global market for titanium parts delivery for the chemical and oil industries.
