The history of Yoga is quite old and people from ancient period have been taking advantages for healing their mind and body from last many
years. The word Yoga has been derived from the Sanskrit word called "Yuj", which means uniting. Practicing yoga on regular basis helps in
bringing the uniting the Universal consciousness with the individual consciousness. This in turn establishes a perfect harmony between the
body and the mind and the nature.
The origin of Yoga is related to the pre-Vedic times related to the Indian traditions. It is found that it has developed during the ascetic
movements in India. We have yet not found a physical evidence to support the fact that the age of Yoga is comparable to that of the Indian
civilization. The earliest evidence that establishes its existence is in the archeological excavations that have found the stones depicting the
Yoga poses.
