Maintenance Technician
Based in Lyttelton
SSA New Zealand is a National Stevedoring company operating throughout 8
New Zealand ports, handling every type of cargo including bulk cargoes and
grab hire, log loading, timber products, breakbulk cargoes, project / heavy lift
cargoes, container handling and bulk logistics. Toppano Holdings is the asset
arm of SSA NZL of which this role will report into.
To ensure our Stevedoring equipment is maintained to a high standard with
optimum availability, we are looking to recruit a Maintenance Technician.
This position will be located in Lyttelton, supporting all operations throughout
the business. This means there is an extensive amount of travel, predominately
based around the 5 South Island Ports. You will be required to work weekends,
shifts outside of a 9 to 5 patterns as the Port environment operates 24/7, and
be on-call if/when required. You will also need to be comfortable working alone.
To be successful in this role of Maintenance Technician you'll need:
A flexible approach to work hours, days and travel as this role will cover the
south island
A technical bent towards maintaining equipment, with the ideal candidate
having already worked on machinery either from a mechanical or electrical
perspective
A passion for machinery and the want to keep it maintained and fully
operational, reducing any lost time.
A commitment to Health & Safety in the workplace
Strong communication skills as this role will work with clients, ports,
suppliers, management and staff around all Ports
A strong commitment to customer service
Ability to work at heights
Good level of fitness and practical capabilities to undertake a hand on
approach
Trustworthy
Full Clean Drivers licence (ideally with endorsement for Forklift and Wheel,
Tracks and Rollers (WTR))
To hit the ground running, it would be advantageous if our successful candidate
comes with relevant port or forestry background. The nature of this role is an
extremely busy and important part of the business, so we'll be looking for
someone who takes ownership of this role.
