WOODSTOCK GROUND REGULA-

TIONS

1. All persons entering the ground are subject to

the rules and regulations of The Football Association.

2. The club reserves the right to eject or prosecute

any person who within the club premises is considered

by the club committee or its employees to

be or have been behaving in the following ways:

a) Entering the field of play before or during

the course of the game.

b) Using obscene, abusive or racist language

or persistently swearing.

c) Being intoxicated by drink or drugs.

Further, persons will not be allowed entry to

Woodstock Park if in the opinion of the gatemen,

stewards or any members of the management

committee they are intoxicated.

3. NO bottles or metal cans, glasses or weapons of

any kind are allowed in the ground. The stewards

have the right to search a spectator if they have

grounds to believe that the person is in possession

of any item that is deemed to be a danger to other

spectators.

4. Alcohol must only be consumed within the confines

of the club house.

5. The climbing of fences or floodlight pylons and

all buildings within the ground is strictly forbidden.

6. All vehicles parked within the boundaries of the

club’s car park must be parked within a designated

space unless otherwise directed by a steward.

No responsibility is accepted for any mishap that

may occur. Car parking is at owners risk.

The Secretary’s Jottings

Good afternoon everyone, welcome to Woodstock.

It’s fitting that for our last home match of the season

we entertain one of the two teams to get promoted

to the Bostik Premier Division, Carshalton

Athletic. Congratulations to them on having a fantastic

season, but from our point of view we would

of course like to defeat a promoted team!.

Despite all the injuries we have had and the leaving

of some key players, our results and performances

have been steadily improving. The mixture

of experienced and young players that Aslan

has bought in has seen some good football

played by this Brickies team and with it, some

good results. In the last eight games we have won

four and drawn two. I felt that the football we

played against Thamesmead last Tuesday was

some of the best we have played this season.

We were very unlucky not to get something out of

the game at Hythe and also when we played

Greenwich Borough.

Being the last programme of the season Its time

to thank a few people who have helped the season

go smoothly. Firstly, it has to be you, the supporters.

You support the club through thick and

thin both home and away – over forty at Phoenix

last week. I know that our players really appreciate

this. I know that not everyone is happy about

all the decisions we have to make but you know

you can talk to any committee member about your

concerns and we will answer you honestly. Secondly

it has to be thanks to the managing director

of Woodstock who just happens to be our chairman,

Maurice Dunk. Without Mo’s support we

would not be able to sustain a club at the level we

are. Thanks to all the Woodstock staff (Phil, Maddy,

Liam and Jordan) for all their hard work on

match days. Thanks to the stewards, and turnstile

staff who never let us down. Warren and Harry –

my contact with the playing staff on match days.

Aslan and Ian – for taking over and steadying the

ship. Thanks to Sandra (my wife) who manages

the boardroom for us even though I am sure that

sometimes she would rather be somewhere else,

also with regards to the boardroom, thanks to

Carole Cooper and Sonia.

Tonight, is presentation night. If you can attend

that would be great. It’s a great way to end our

home season.

Season tickets are on sale now. Details of how to

During

the

closed

season

we will

be

asking

for volunteers

to help tidy up the ground and help us

with improvements. As soon as the last match is

played this season the far changing rooms will be

gutted and rebuilt. They will feature two players

dressing rooms that will meet the new FA standard,

a referees changing room and a new medical

room. The complex will also house new toilets.

Next season we welcome a number of new youth

teams. A lady’s team and an Under 23 team that

will compete in the Bostik Under 23 league.

I am pleased to say that in conjunction with Swale

Council, Sittingbourne Football Club have been

awarded “White Ribbon” Ambassador status. The

aim of “White Ribbon UK” is to end violence

against woman. You can read more about it here,

www.whiteribbon.org.uk. For our part we will publicise

the aims of “White Ribbon” through this programme

and other media.

Hello everyone

From the Programme Editor

Well we made it! This programme is number

32 this season which makes around 900 individual

pages over the season, which with a

print run of between 45-50 programmes each

time, makes about 40,000 pages. Its not been

all plain sailing either! We print the programmes

ourselves to keep the cost down,

but that has

entailed using

3 laser printers

, 2 ink jet

printers, and

about 20

reams of paper,

phew!

The vast majority

of the

money raised

from the programmes

goes straight

into the club.

So it’s a huge

thank you to

all those who

take the trouble

to buy a

programme.

Thanks also

to Tony Rickson,

for supplying

his excellent

match

reports, and to

John & Sandra Pitts for printing and stapling

some of the programmes., and to Faye Gotham

and Jackie Mount for selling them.

Some of this seasons programmes can be

found as flip books hyperlinked from the fixtures

page of the web site.

I’ve crammed in 4 match reports in this programme

so they have been heavily edited,

however I wanted to make sure that all match

reports to dat have been included in this seasons

programmes.

Its been a Topsy Turvey sort of season

(again!) what with us losing almost the entire

Under 18 section at the beginning of the season

and Nick Davis departing, but good work

by Glen Parkes, Mick Sayce and the new

youth team managers and the promise shown

by our new first team manager Aslan Odev,

things are looking bright for next season.

Now news from the Bostik League, starting

with Leatherhead, whose chairman is our old

manager Richard Brady. They have fallen foul

of the minefield that it is called “International

clearance”, and although they have only received

the minimal fine of £100, as the player

concerned, Yannis Ambroisine, had already

played in England for Hayes & Yeading, and

Waltham Forest. However they have also

been ordered to forfeit all of the FA Cup (6

wins) and FA Trophy (2 wins) prize money that

they had won. I calculate that this could be

over £20,000. This is a sum that would probably

see us going down the drain, so I don’t

know how they are going to deal with that.

The other Bostik news is that South Park’s

manager, Malcolm Porter, is leaving them at

the end of the season. Porter has been involved

with the club for eighteen years.

So now we are already thinking of next season,

and I would be interested to know if you

would prefer me to just list a squad instead of

a possible team with numbers. There is a

trend, albeit small at our level, to now give

players squad numbers, so it would make it

easier for those of you who like to scribble on

the team pages. Let me know, either at the

game today or via the contact us button on the

web site, what else you would like to see in

the programme, bearing in mind that for cost

reasons I like to keep the programme down to

a total of 28 pages.

Carshalton Atletic—A Brief History

Carshalton Athletic traces its roots to two separate

teams playing in the area of Wrythe Green

in Carshalton in the early twentieth century.

Carshalton St Andrews was formed in 1897 by

the vicar of St Andrews, Revd. C W Cleaver,

and the club began playing in the Surrey County

Herald League. In 1902 it was promoted into the

Southern Suburban League Division Two West,

but it agreed to fold and amalgamate with Mill

Lane Mission in 1906.

Mill Lane Mission registered the name change

with the Surrey FA and played its first ever

match as Carshalton Athletic on 7 September

1907 at home on the Wrythe Green recreation

ground in a friendly against Westbrook

(Thornton Heath). The original club colours

were red jerseys and white shorts and its nickname

is the Robins.

Following the reformation of the club in March

1919, after the First World War, Carshalton

moved into its still current home at Colston Avenue.

The ground was built as a memorial to

those club members that lost their lives in the

war.

Carshalton has most recently spent its time in

the Isthmian Premier League, along with a brief

unsuccessful spell in the Conference South in

2004/05. During the first decade of the new millennium

the club has endured many ups and

downs.

In 2007/08 the club avoided relegation on the

last game of the season when other extraordinary

League results kept it up. Then, the following

year, the Robins just missed promotion to

the Conference South, losing in the play-off final

against Staines Town. The club ran into financial

trouble by the end of 2008 but it was bought

by local businessman Paul Dipre and, over the

past five years, it has transformed.

It is now one of the biggest community-based

clubs in the south of England boasting two senior

male teams, seven ladies/girls teams, 35

youth/junior teams, two male and one female

academy teams and two u18 teams. The club

also has around 2,000 members, a thriving social

side and Carshalton’s efforts have been

recognised by the highest football authorities.

The club won the ‘Surrey FA Charter Standard

Community Club of the Year Award’, the ‘South-

East FA Regional Charter Standard Community

Club of the Year Award’ and then the ultimate

accolade of ‘FA National Charter Standard

Community Club of the Year’ all in 2012. In May

2013 it was announced the club had won the

silver medal at the UEFA ‘Best Grassroots Club’

awards.

On the playing field, Carshalton progressed to

the third round proper of the FA Trophy in

2011/12, recording convincing victories over

higher League teams along the way: a 5-0

thrashing of Bishops Stortford and a tremendous

3-1 home win against Lincoln City saw the

Robins eventually succumb in Wales against

Newport County.

Carshalton were due to be relegated at the end

of the 2012/13 season when it finished one

point off safety despite winning six of the last

eight games. Essex side Thurrock however

were deducted three points for fielding an ineligible

player, thus allowing the Robins to leapfrog

them back into the Premier division.

The reprieve led to an arduous season for a

young Robins squad however and the club was

relegated to the Ryman League Division One

South by the end of 2013/14. Season 2014/15

found the Robins flirting with relegation but

eventually finished 7 points above the relegation

places. Season 16/17 saw the Robins finish

just above half way, whilst 17/18 under player /

Manager Peter Adeniyi, they narrowly missed

out on promotion, however this season they

have clinched one of the top two promotion

spots.

Praise Sittingbourne for keeping going for 90

minutes to finally get the only goal of the game,

praise them for keeping a clean sheet, praise

them for shrugging off the loss of their main

goalscorer with a head injury after just 10

minutes.

But overall it wasn’t a great performance and

poor old Molesey must have been sick at going

back home round the M25 with nothing to show

for a stubborn effort.

In the end the game centered on two goalline

clearances. Fabrice Blewordah, my man-of-thematch,

saved Sittingbourne with one such

clearance in the first half, while Molesey’s

Prately-Jones used his hand to make his in the

88th minute, costing him a red card and a penalty

which resulted in the game’s only goal.

Both teams set up in a 4-4-2 and the game began

with the teams sparring with other in the

middle of the field. However, within 5 minutes

Hythe nearly took the lead when a curling shot

rebounded into play off the top of the right-hand

upright. Sittingbourne though had plenty of opportunities

in this game and had the better of

the first half. However Hythe Town took control

in the second despite the Brickies taking the

lead through Fabrice Blewordah 3 minutes into

the 2 nd half. However 3 minutes later Hythe

equalised after an unstoppable shot from Chris

Kinnear rocketed past a rooted Brookes and

into the top right hand corner of the net. Hythe

took control and two more goals sealed the

game for them despite a 2 nd for the Brickies

scored by Kane Rowland a minute before time.

Sittingbourne created loads of decent chances

all afternoon but won the game with a stroke of

luck.Tom Loynes got his body in the way of an

attempted Phoenix clearance that could have

bounced anywhere but fell straight into the path

of David Smith who crashed a left-foot shot into

the far corner to score the only goal of the

game.

Dylan Riches in his first start for the Brickies got

a terrific 78th minute goal to earn Sittingbourne

a point as they twice fought back to draw an

entertaining game.

Not a player was booked from either side in a

fairly-contested game even though the referee

awarded two penalties and three of the four

goals came from dead ball situations.

Sittingbourne had opportunities to win this one.

The hard working Smith had first half opportunities

to give Sittingbourne the lead but Thamesmead

keeper Carey twice made good saves.

Thamesmead were gifted the lead just before

half-time as McIntyre hit a free-kick from way

out on the touchline, nearer the halfway line

than the goal, which went straight in at the far

post with Brooks initially coming for it and realising

too late he’d made a mistake.

Still, a draw was just about a fair result.

Directions: By Car:-

A229 through Hawkhurst then when you reach the A21 turn left. On entering Hastings Having

passed Sainsburys on your right, go straight ahead at two mini roundabouts and turn left at the

third onto the A2101 St Helens Road (The Pilot Field is signposted at this point). After approximately

a mile and a quarter, take the fifth turning on the left into St Helens Park Road, which

leads into Downs Road. At the end of this road, turn left and the ground is situated immediately

on your right.

By Train:- Nearest Stations: Ore 1.1 miles or Hastings 2 miles (See bus below from Hastings

railway station)

By Bus:

Sittingbourne U18 v KFC Halle St Martinus

On Sunday, 8 th April 2016, 163 family, friends and supporters came to Woodstock Park to witness

the first ever International Friendly between Sittingbourne U18’s and KFC Halle St Martinus

Academy from Belgium. Everyone on both sides was hoping for a good game and they

were not disappointed.

Pennants were exchanged by the two captains and with the handshakes over, both sides settled

down for a game of football.

It was relatively quiet for the opening minutes but then the Brickies were the first to get into their

stride. A combination of great saves from the Halle keeper and a number of missed chances

kept the game at 0-0 for a time until, completely against the run of play, Halle broke down the

right, hit a low cross towards the penalty box where the ball ricocheted off the leg of a Sittingbourne

defender and flew in at the near post past the wrong-footed keeper.

Sittingbourne bounced back and soon levelled the score. That was it, from then throughout the

rest of the match it was mostly the Brickies who were asking the questions. A number of substitutions

were made at half time by both sides to make sure that all the players got playing time

but the momentum carried on, with Sittingbourne eventually winning 5-1.

The game was made all the more interesting for the spectators because even though there was

not a huge amount of goalmouth action to be seen, there were high levels of skill shown by the

two sides, both by individuals and also in the way they played as a team; a credit to both sets of

managers, coaches and supporting staff.

At the end of the game both sides chose a Man of the Match for the opposing team with the

Belgian manager choosing Eniola Usman for the Brickies.

The match was played in good spirit but it wasn’t just about the game. The whole evening was

a great success for all concerned; it was an experience for both sets of players and the atmosphere

generated by the occasion was commented on by more than a few people from both

sides. The Belgian officials –a number of whom were parents of the players- said that they and

their players had thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Maybe a summer visit to Belgium could be on

the cards

Mick Sayce, Secretary, Sittingbourne Youth.

Harry Brooks: Goalkeeper. Started season as

reserve keeper but made a number of notable

performances when called upon and made the

position his own. He was outstanding against a

strong Dover Athletic side in the Kent Senior Cup

in September. Harry played for Whitstable Town

reserves last season.

Chris Webber: Defender. Joined Sittingbourne

from Canterbury City at the beginning of this season.

Has also played for Billericay and Faversham

Town.

Fabrice Blewordah; Defender. Born in Ghana

but of Swedish nationality, Fabrice joined Sittingbourne

in February 2018. He has played in

Sweden and when he came to England he played

for Lordswood and Faversham Town.

Lex Allan: Defender. 6’ 7” Lex was spotted playing

in local football and offered a trial with Sittingbourne.

It soon became clear that he had

great potential. This potential has been spotted

by a number of scouts. Lex has been invited to

play in trial matches and he has not looked out of

place in the company of more experienced players.

Josh Dorling: Defender,Signed in March 2018.

His previous club being Maidstone United where

he started as a youth player. Now formed a central

defensive partnership with Lex Allan.

Chris Elliott: Midfield/Defender. Chris made his

debut for Sittingbourne at the beginning of the

league season. One of his attributes is a very

long throw, Chris’s previous clubs are Herne Bay

and Folkestone Invicta where he picked up a serious

knee injury. He has also played for Ashford

United.

Jidi (Lawson) Okimeji: Midfield. Jidi made his

debut for Sittingbourne against Chipstead in the

first game of the 2017-2018 season. Lawson was

a full time youth player at Leyton Orient. Whilst at

Orient, he went on loan to Hampton & Richmond

Borough.

Dan Parkinson: Midfield. Experienced player

who came through the Morecambe youth academy

to sign a one-year contract for the 2011–12

season for the League two club. He then signed

for Barrow of the Conference North. He also

played on loan at Colwyn Bay and Vauxhall Motors

before moving South and playing for Maidstone

United (alongside his brother Jack) and

Tonbridge Angels. Dan originally joined Sittingbourne

last season but a knee injury put him

out for most of the season. He has now returned

and is slowly getting back to full fitness.Rhys

Bartlett: Midfield. Highly thought of youngster,

Rhys Bartlett is on Maidstone United’s books and

has played in their National League side. Rhys

has joined Sittingbourne to get more experience

and made his debut in January 2018 in the 4-9

victory over Guernsey.

Sittingbourne Squad

Josh Dorling: Midfield. Josh joined Sittingbourne

from Maidstone United in February

2018 where he played for their academy. Whilst

with the Stones, Josh had a week long trial with

Brighton & Hove Albion.

Lewis Chambers: Midfield, Lewis is another to

sign for new manager, Aslan, in March 2018. He

impressed right from his first game for the club.

He has played for Maidstone United youth.

Tom Loynes: Midfield/ Forward. Tom first

played for Sittingbourne in the 2012-13 season.

In between playing for us he has played at Ramsgate,

Whitstable Town and Sheppey United.

Since returning The Brickies at the beginning of

this season he has shown that he has lost none

of his skill and enthusiasm.

Kane Phillip: Midfield/Forward: Kane joined

Sittingbourne in February 2017, signing from Herne

Bay. He is another to have risen to the occasion

this season and is a crowd favourite.

Kane Rowland: Forward. Kane was with Whitstable

Town last season and scored 30 goals. He

started in the youth set up at Ramsgate before

joining Whitstable Town for the first time and

scored 16 goals whilst with them. He then joined

Margate before returning to Whitstable. The Ward

brothers then took Kane to Ramsgate.

David Smith: Forward. Joined Sittingbourne at

the beginning of the 2017-18 season. David has

a knack as coming off the subs bench and scoring

goals! David previously played for Lordswood.

Tyrone Guthrie: Forward. Joined Sittingbourne

at the beginning of the 2017-18 season. Tyrone

has previously played for Beckenham Town and

Fisher Athletic.

Germaine Dua: Forward. One of new manager,

Aslan Odev’s, new signings in March 2018. Very

quickly becoming a fan’s favourite. Germaine has

previously played for Crawley Green, Arlesey

Town Reserves and Hertford Town. Finished last

season with Chesham United and joined Waltham

Forest at the beginning of this. He then

played for Leatherhead where we signed him

from.

Harrison Hatfull: Forward. Second spell with

Sittingbourne. He originally joined us from Chatham

Town. He started this season with Herne

Bay before joining us in February 2018.

Seyfettin Akdeniz: Forward, Another of Aslan’s

new signings in March 2018. Seyfettin signed

from Swiss professional club FC Arbon 05. A

Turkish born Swiss national who made his debut

against South Park in March 2018 as soon as International

clearance was granted and immediately

impressed.

Max Farrelly/ Charlie Allen: Part of Sittingbourne
